Now I see by your topic that you did find out what people had for breakfast, what they did last night and how everyone is. Not a word about the topic of the thread. That's the way it is on eBay and that is why I have been to their threads twice and never returned.

Jack, You make a great point. My wife has "suggested" from time to time that I "waste" too much time reading the AW boards. I have to remind her that folks here have real problems with real solutions. It's not like That "Starbucks bunch" (Kiara, I feel a graphic comin on)over on the Ebay boards. I have never been able to find anything constructive over there, and believe me I have tried. On this board, we have fun, we help each other, and we sometimes disagree. We respect each other's opinion (most of the time) and we ignore the crazies and whiners and they eventually go away. This is the best auction board around. O. K. everybody, pat yourself on the back.

The ebay message boards are really chatrooms because there are so many people there and most are regulars. Like all chatrooms they have definite cliques that usually shun outsiders and usually only talk about themselves.

AW is more of a true message board. One can not really compare the two places as the ebay forums are really just chatrooms.

A better is comparison would be with OTWA with it's huge amount helpful posts.

Jack, I hate to burst your bubble but thousands and maybe tens of thousands of ebayers must have written in to ebay asking for the zip code change. To think that it was your lone suggestion that caused the ebay modification is totally ludicrous and delusional. Get over it. It may have been the thousands of emails that did it or maybe ebay figured it out a year ago but there is no way it was just your suggestions that caused the change.

Actually, what is truly ludicrous and delusional is to post that ebay figured it out a year ago. LOL, ebay is incapable of ever coming up with an original idea!

Someone here had a simple solution in making the sellers job a little easier!

There is no way we can say how long that ebay had this in the works unless there is someone that works for ebay that would post here and tell us.

I do know that Jack was instrumental in bringing it to the attention of everyone on the boards here and who is to say how many posters and lurkers sent in suggestions to ebay because of that.

ebay doesn't do many good things without the pressure of the people who use the site and I have a feeling that they got a lot of e-mails about the Zip Code change.

We get so many threads about buyers not reading the auction TOS yet on these very boards many readers must simply skim the posts.

or maybe ebay figured it out a year ago

That's a heck of a lot different than

ebay figured it out a year ago

Almost every ebay seller saw the new Priority Mail distance problems coming the moment it was even proposed by the Post Office. The lack and need of a prominently posted zip code of the ebay users became immediately apparent.

I was nice to see an AW poster actually post what most others considered a great idea already. But to see this poster parade about like a peacock and constantly gloat over his personal victory gets very thin very fast.

There are almost 50 million registered ebay users.

To even imply or suggest that "qoute" maybe ebay figured it out a year ago, is laughable robertsmithson. How did you come to this interesting conclusion?

Why not give credit to Jack, instead of slamming him on this thread.

What a lovefest....

I did post on the actual boards versus the scrolling chat, but only got some nominal answers, at least they were helpful - sort of...okay a generic "try and see" and a "what are you selling" so that's why I gave AW my credit card. the OTWA crowd is too chatty and graphically intensive.

Re: Zip Code...I am the first to admit it was Mr. Semper Fi himself that got me to email Ebay and suggest it.
whether or not some Ebayer (does that give you a headache or cure one?) came up with it or toyed with it or researched it, I don't know, but it's a cool thing.

(I would say it's a good thing, but Martha may bet B*&#% Slapped in stir for saying that one at the wrong time...so...life goes on...)

Japerton
Humbly bringing you on average one auction a week...and growing!
