I was just looking at people's feedback on eBay and it dawned on me that I really enjoy looking at the negatives people have received! It's fun to scroll down and find them, then follow one to the person who left it to see if a reciprocal negative was given, and see who else has negged that person. Sometimes it seems like someone who has a lot of negatives deals with others who have lots of negatives, too, and it's interesting to see what complaints people have! It's more fun than a "Me" page.

Does anyone else take pleasure in reading random negatives on eBay?

Hi RainyBear! Have you gotten snow in your area around here yet? We got just a tiny bit this weekend.... wish it were more...

Anyway, Yeah, I read negatives, scroll down to find the red "Negative" out of curiosity. Think they're far more interesting and full of intrigue than the usual positive. You know, "fast ship, fast pay, blah, blah." Negatives are usually far spicier. Kinda like slowing down to rubberneck an accident on the freeway. Morbid curiosity.

Hi!! Boy am I relieved!! I thought I was the only one. It's almost gets addictive after awhile. I always do that too, I look at their FB, check for a reply, etc. It's nice to know I'm not alone!

If I am considering placing a bid, I will look up negatives to see if the leaver of the neg. has a history of them. Just trying to determine if the negative appears to be justified or retaliatory.

I just got my first neg, and even though I am not that compelled to read others, I can't seem to stay away from my own -- like looking at my own car wreck, I keep going back and back, I don't know why -- it's not going anywhere!

Here is one we enjoyed when we received it. Our reward for posting NEG. feedback was this:

My REWARD for going on vacation was NEG. feedback from anal-retentive seller!

oh, this is cracking me up!!
we have done this, reading others negs, and occasionally have come across major webs of intrigue!! it seems sellers of certain types of goods attract a pretty unrelible client base, but im not pointing any fingers, noooooo siiiirrrr eeeee

I'm glad I'm not the only one...

I read the Neg., see if there were any relalitory Negging, and then see if there are any other Neg's with this person, and any retalitory...
Next thing I know I'm checking the feedback of the 6th or 7th person... I have to hit the back button to figure out where I started and why!

LOL!!! I do this as well. I have found myself going through page after page after page of someone's feedback to find the ONE negative they got. How pathetic is that??

I always thought that reading neg feedback was just using good sense, now I see I'm just "rubbernecking" and I'm unashamed of the fact. Maybe someone should start a 12-step program for us poor pathetic souls who have nothing better to do than read up on others dirt.

I generally don't read negs unless I'm having a problem with a bidder.

What's really scary is to have an over the top bidder start harrassing and stalking you just because you don't see the world the same way they do.

Sometimes even the negative FB doesn't give ya a clue about how "unbelievable" the person is.

And I hate to say this since "we were all 0 Feebackers once" but lately (within the last year) there are more newbie freakos than I would have ever believed.

Ever get an email saying I sent my check two days ago WHEN ARE YOU SENDING MY MERCHANDISE?????????????? Like I'll send it when I get your payment!!!

I don't read other people's negs. Maybe I am weird then. Here is my favorite neg from my own personal feedback...WAY old feedback:

Neutral: WARNING She is a LIAR, Irresponsible, Unfair, and wants to cause trouble

I purchased a nighty sold as "brand new" and got it and it was washed 20 times and covered with snags. I left a neg ("Item sold as new was not as described" ) and this was her retalitory neg. It WAS a neg but was changed to a neutral after ebay found her to have 5 e-accounts and registered id's and ALL of her positive feedback was from herself. When she got a few negs on one account, she would start a new one and leave herself some positives. Creative, huh? I have grown to love it over the years...kind of like a fondness for a wart you never can get removed. I am just wondering why one of her accounts is still open?? Interesting. Terri

always getting those darn winking smilies!

OK, so I'm not alone then. I was sure there would be others who found this such a fascinating pastime as I do.

Fashion - No, there hasn't been a single flake of snow around here. I live in Ballard and work downtown, so we don't usually get any. It's always exciting when we do, though (once a year). However, if all goes as planned, I'm closing on a house in Federal Way on the 26th of this month. More snow in those parts, methinks!

Hi,
My name is dave....and I rubberneck at negs and neutrals also.It gets very interesting sometimes, and I too get lost following the trail.I would compare it to The Jerry Springer Show, it just gets so darn odd sometimes you have to look!
As for sell-it...Holy freakin cow!!! 60+ negs!!! Its a wonder anyone bids on his items.I could read this feedback profile all night! Anyone else got some good ones?I plan on staying up late tonight!

I, too, read negs. I just wish ebay would make it a little easier. I just hate it when a user has several negs and over 50 pages of feedback to forage through. And it's always the last page i look that has the negs
There has got to be a better way, like a click on to "view all negative feedback".

Nobs: If you go to the Feedback Forum and select the "View Feeback" link, you can specify the number of feedbacks per page, or specify that all of them be listed on one page. Then, you can use the Find function in your browse to look for all instances of "complaint."

I was looking through the feedback of a bidder of mine (lets call him niceguy), he got negged by a buyer (lets call him seriouslydeluded) who bounced a check. This is not your ordinary retaliation, apparently, seriouslydeluded thinks that niceguy should not have negged him because he had to pay $$ in bank fees because he bounced the check, and since he had to pay the bank fees, that's punishment enough, never mind that niceguy had to pay bank fees too.

seriouslydeluded has since been NARU'd with 52 positives (many citing slow pay), and 10 negs, all for bouncing checks or not paying at all.

Not only do I read the neg's for kicks at times, I try to leave creative ones for No Pays. I once left a neg' saying the non paying buyer should read the story of Pinnochio! Wow, I won't repeat the response email I got. But if I lit the check (she supposedly sent) and put it where she said I should, it sure would have been hot there! : 0

One of the more get-to-the-point negs I've ever read was:

Complaint: WARNING; CROOK, CHEAT, LIAR, POND SCUM, TRASH: Take your pick.

Rainybear, Our high today is predicted to be 81 degrees, record breaking! It was in the mid 70's for the last two days. It is JANUARY! We can't tell, our grass is still green! Terri

Terri, I covet your weather! Sometimes we don't even make 81 during the summer. Today it's cold and cloudy outside, though the big surprise is that it's not raining. 81, wow!!

Congrats Rainybear on your new home in Fed Way (which got hit by 3 inches of snow last night, did you hear). I just went through closing as well, and what a trial!!

Thanks, Fashion - congrats on your new home, too! Trial indeed. This has been one of the most stressful experiences of my life. It's been so up and down, from excitement to disappointment, and at times we've been unsure if it would really happen (like after the inspection when we found out the roof was shot). Federal Way wasn't our first choice, but we decided we didn't want to buy a $200,000 cracker box in Seattle.

My hubby works in Des Moines and called me this morning to say "If we were living in Federal Way right now, we'd have 3 inches of snow on the ground!" I wondered if that would be a good excuse not to go to work.

Just so this post isn't totally off-topic, I'll mention that in the new place (my first real house that's not an apartment) I'm going to have my own little room for my eBay stuff!
