After serveral years of listing on both, my Yahoo sales have started to pick up. This week, I sold more on Yahoo than Ebay. Is there a trend here?

That is great news!

Could you let us in on a little detail, like is the increase using the identical number of listings for each venue, or did you have to list 100 items on Yahoo to 50 on eBay.

And, since I have Yahoo in my future plans, what about the amount of time tapping in the listings, was it the same or did you spend more time on Yahoo. I am hoping for the right answer!

I list more auctions on Yahoo (since it's free) and I start them higher
(since there is less traffic) but sales have been picking up. I do not
understand your last question.

TELL ME ABOUT IT - I started making the switch about 6 months ago, and after I got past my eBay attitude, and learned how to sell on Yahoo, I now have 95% of my auctions on Yahoo, and only do about 5% of auction on Ebay now, and I was a died in the wool eBay person for 5 years!

I got tired of the rule changes, the price gouging, and the attitude of eBay personnel. I got tired of eBay's lack of care for their Sellers, who are the folks who actually pay the eBay bills. There are so many areas where eBay has made it crystal clear that they don't give a darn about sellers. Unfortunately, many of us act like abused wives, assuming we have done something to cause the problems, and keep coming back to eBay for more abuse.

NOT ME - I finally broke free! YEA, I LOVE YAHOO & I'M DOING TONS OF SUCCESSFUL SELLING THERE!

Hi, Irene - What you recount doesn't surprise me at all. I expect that they'll be some *active* bidding for a while at Yahoo, the reason being that there are a number of eBay Sellers trying out Yahoo auctions, and if they're at all like most other sellers who go to a new venue, they start BUYING a whole buncha stuff in order to acquire FEEDBACK NUMBERS.

I examined Yahoo, as well as other online auction venues, and I am NOT impressed, and I with a certainty I can say that NO online portal such YAHOO or ALTA VISTA (shopping.com) - none of 'em give one hoot about liddle sole proprietors or teenie corporations.

There has been a HUGE influx of vulture capital into the B2C auction arena, and these big portals are concerned that the ol' BIG PHAT Corporate E-tailers get lotsa bids on alla the auctions they intend to have running any day soon.

Besides, Yahoo is *suspicious* in my eyes -- when Bezos told eBay that amazon.com would crush eBay, (meaning us small sellers), Bezos specifically stated that amazon and Yahoo and Microsoft would together crush eBay.

In my eyes, that's guilt by association.

Indeed, I've used Yahoo email for YEARS, and I am in the process of searching out other web-based email, and other places for NEWS -- as Yahoo ain't no longer gonna be having ME clicking nuthin' on their site, and ofcourse I'm not gonna use Hotmail, as that is owned by Microsoft.

Of course, I've also stated publically that I ain't buying NOTHING from NO big phat corporate e-tailers, and that even includes accepting their free mdse TRICKS which they are doing in the name of that stooopid, "branding."

Anyway, I suspect that bids will be uP at plenty of online auction venues, as too many people NEED feedback at new venues. So to me, that does not indicate new CUSTOMERS, that's just accruing fb sales.

I love YAHOO and don't buy into that conspiracy thing.

It takes more patience and volume to get sales there, but they come in whem they will and I had a very good string of sales and a modest trickle to keep the pot boiling.

So far no deadbeats.

I buy everything on Yahoo now. Its a great way to help support other sellers, and it helps to build my feedbacks for when yahoo takes over the #1 auction spot which I think will happen within 24 months.
