VeryModern, it's easy if you just remember (or make a note) that it is 1.13 for the first pound, then goes up at the rate of 45 cents per pound.

Despite the telephone and the internet, printed materials are still available from the USPS. The next time you are down at your local PO pick up a copy of "ratefold" (notice 123).
Of course it helps to know there's no such thing as book rate - it's called Special Standard Mail.
