Can you cancel a bid if you do not like the feedback rating of a person? Or if it has been made private, and you do not want to deal with a bidder that has made their feedback private? Would you sugguest it, or wait it out, auction ends in 2 hours.

YOu can cancel ANY BID YOU WANT TO,
even if it's just because you don't like
the way they spell their name.

You can cancel the bid. But, I've had two buyers with hidden or private feedback and both paid in record time with zero problems. One was for over $500.00. Private feedback isn't necessarily a bad omen.

A seller has the right to NOT deal with anyone with whom they would be uncomfortable. However, if you do cancel the bid, you should email the person and (1) explain why and (2) tell them not to bid on your auctions again (otherwise, they may think their bid simply "disappeared" and will put it back.
If they bid again, write to SafeHarbor, forwarding the email (with headers expanded) and they will deal with the person (it is a suspendable offense).

Write the person and ask them why they have it private. It does not mean their feedback is bad and there may be good reason for it. I know of a couple sellers that make their auctions private and feedback to protect their customers.

Hello londav:
I would recommend that you go-to eBay Home; click on User Agreement at the bottom of the page-then click on Sellers Guide at the bottom of that page.
On the Sellers Guide page you will find a link to Cancelling Bids and Ending Auctions Early.
As we all deal with eBay, I would resolve matters as personal as this, with information from the source, which will not be flippant or jaundiced as some responses on this forum are.

I have only cancelled bids on my auctions, if the seller has very poor feedback and a high rate of bid retractions.
I would rather the item not sell, and have to relist it, than deal with (maybe) a deadbeat bidder.
It is of course, your call. Go with your gut feeling.
