I put up an item today #http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=427956990 and put it in collectables/art/ artistic nudes in the fervent desire to not offend. I'd like to put it in aviation categories, avionics, pilot stuff but I'm wondering if eBay would find it too risque for those categories. Any thoughts ?

That url I just put up there doesn't want to work. If you want to see it just paste the #
427956990 Scheesh, now I'm talking to myself.

I had to practically press my nose to the monitor to see why you put her in "artistic nudes," to be honest. I can't imagine anybody complaining if you put that item in an avionics category instead.

Hi Glenda, I can't imagine their objecting either but if they did, they could boot me and then that would have then been foolish on my part, so I'm being careful. i don't know how to ask eBay if i could put it in such and such a category, antbody know?

You could email them a pic and ask. That's all I know to do. Or else list it in avionics and see if they move it. They'll move it only if they get a complaint though.

If somebody found it truly offensive and reported it to eBay, you'd be warned, not booted.
You could write to [email protected] or [email protected], I suppose.

you know, my boyfriend buys land o lakes butter just so he can play with the box like that. he'll get a kick out of this one...
the item seems more out of place in the nudes than it would in the aviation section. i don't think anyone would care, but if you are that worried go ahead and email ebay while i give my boyfriend a call.

I think you are pretty safe with this one. I guess you never saw the "charm" in the jewelry section that was a monkey with his fist around his whowho and the arm moves up and down! No one complained about THAT as far as I know.

Well this little board just gets more and more interesting. What else have I missed? L-O-L Lady's been around since 1939 and it's just time she received a bit of mechanical assistance. So far nobody seems to object, maybe I should put a motor on it.

Hey jenniphant, are you still around? If you sent me the correct scale picture of your boyfriend's back yard, front porch, whatever, I could make one personalized for his continued glee.

I did not know that you could do that with the Land O Lakes lady. One question, why are you charging $6.00 bucks to ship it? That would be more offensive to me than what you have done with the lady. Heather

Does that seem too much? I don't yet know what it would cost to pack ship and insure it to California or wherever so I pulled that number out of my head as seeming reasonable. I believe UPS would be more than that actually, but I'll find out when and if I have to send this one off and can adjust accordingly.

Is it mush bigger than I think it is? From the looks of it, it would only cost $3.20 to mail plus .85 insurance. If it could fit in a bubble envelope and does not weigh much then it would go much cheaper than that. I say all this because I am in a situation now with a brand new seller. Familiarize yourself with shipping rates, and methods of shipping. Will save you a lot of grief in the long run. Did you just start with selling, or did you buy a few times and see how things worked? thanks, anteater, but i'm afraid if i got him one, he'd never leave the house. you know, it's true that the simple things in life are what make us happy... butter box with mammary glands. doesn't get more simple than that.

I've been watching auctions for about 3 months, bought some stuff over the last 2 and started selling last week, a total of 10 or so auctions. I wouldn't put this piece in a padded envelope as it has a delicate little mechanism in it and the knob is too fragile to not be better protected than in a padded envelope, and as I say, I'll know after I ship one.

jenniphant, this sounds serious but perhaps you could lead him around with it, mount it on the lawn mower when the grass needs a trim, mount it over the sink when the dishes pile up, or mount it on top of the toilet seat cover to save on that cold porcelain surprise he might leave in the dark occasionally.Stuff like that could be handy.

you know, it's sad, but i remember the days when *I* used to have that effect on him. anyways, i'll just assume you've solved your nude figure woes. so what was the verdict form ebay?

What you charge to ship is your own business, however, for future reference you can figure shipping rates by visiting the following URL: http://postcalc.usps.gov/

I would consider changing the catag to something in advertising under collectibles. The word AD should appear in your title also. I sell ads and ad related items and this is a doosey (spelled right?). I would also start it out at under ten and let the bidding go from there. What I have found with people who collect ads and related items if they see early bidding they will bid also. Just my ramblings......(8^)

The "ad" listing might be a good thing, hamburglar, I hadn't considered it's status as an ad.Feistyone, thanks for the site. And hcross, when I use that site to figure shipping and insurance on this piece, it comes to 5.35 and the box would cost 1.09. My six bucks was 44 cents low. Not exactly gouging the buying public, I'd say.
