Can a person really make an honest income as a seller ,considering the time you put in for listing ,photos shopping ,shipping etc. Listing fees are eating my profits !

You can make some serious income using online auctions to sell, but I don't think I could personally make a living at it...great 2nd income though.

It would have to be a life styal I mean if you enjoy the flea markets and going to auctions and the challange of finding and traveling to find your Items this could be a liveing for you.

If you concider the listing writeing ads and picture takeing a way to exspand on a photography hobby and writeing hobby this to can be fun.

if you just concider it time waisted at this or time waisted at that then it prolly not much fun for you and if its not fun why bother at all just say where your at right.

This is the kind of thing a husband and wife might find they have in comon after the kids are all grown and enjoy the time spent out buying and home listing and stuff.

if your asking can you make a liveing at it definatly antique and collectable dealers have been out there makeing a liveing at this for ever ask any of then only differents betteen yahoo ebay and a antique store is the rent and over head are lower on ebay and yahoo .

guy who owns your local gas station car parts stores computer stores antique store are all dealers makeing a great liveing.

There's an excellent article from the Sunday, Aug. 20th New York Times about eBay Power Sellers:

A good rule of thumb is that unless you are very sure you can sell it on eBay for 3X what you paid for it, don't bother. If you are in a crowded, cut-throat, low-prioced area of sales, find another.

And selling <$5 items is a good way to go broke and die overworked.

You can make some money on online auctions, yes. I'd be one pissed off father if my son was to tell me, "Dad, I'm going to make eBay my life's career."

The fact you are dependant on a house of cards to run your business would make it less than an ideal career. Its entertaining for me and beats the hell out of putting up "Yard Sale" signs all over the neighborhood though.

try spreading out to other sites if ebay listing fees are a problem, and try some different items. Other sites don't charge as much such as yahoo which is free.

abacaxi is right make sure you can get enough profit before you buy something to sell on ebay

yeah I have to agree dealing and selling collectables and antiques can be a good career online auction has some very big stand out ups and downs it can be one part of a good plan.

but if selling on ebay or yahoo is your whole plan it could be hard but many do this right now full time so not imposable.
