Say you have a paperback original or first edition paperback. Do you think it is better to list in first editions or in paperbacks? My hunch is that you would get more play in paperbacks. Thoughts? Experiences?

Another interesting thing I noticed. I tried searching the following words
sci fi
sci-fi
science fiction

There was a big difference in the number of hits with the most being the 1st and the least the last. Now this tells me if I am a buyer how to turn up the most hits but not sure what it tells me as a seller. It doesn't tell me what the buyers are searching.

when i sell books, it depends on the subject, if i have a sci fi novel, and it is a first edition, i will list it in the sci-fi section and put in the heading first ediotion, and so forth and so on-----------------------

I don't know of anyone who seeks out first editions of paperbacks;(but I could be wrong!!);there are people who search for particular editions of all kinds of books. If you mention that it is a certain edition, there's a chance someone might be looking for it. Very often they might want a certain cover or something like that.

You will find that buyers may know a whole lot more about a book than you...you'll also find that they might also act knowledgeable but don't really know anymore than you.

in the description you could use all three variations of sci fi. That way it would be picked up in the description search regardless....

There are very few hardcover books where the edition really matters, and even fewer paperbacks. Don't list it in First Editions unless it is collected.

Hi, I buy and sell books on ebay, and I collect paperback orginals. If the paperback you are selling is a specific genre, try listing in that category, but specify "PBO" or paperback original in the title of the auction. It is fine to list in the paperbacks category also.
