Why would a seller want to be a "Power Seller"? I know you get a logo and some other things, but do buyers prefer buying from Power Sellers? When I see one of their auctions, I'm never certain that I will get good treatment or will be part of a non-personalized sale because of their volume. I know that this may not be true.

I am/was/am a Powerseller. Was all excited about it at first. But then, didnt think it was so "hot". So, I dumped the logo. Most of my customers told me they felt uncomfortable with it...like I was "too big for my britches", what ever that meant, since I didnt ask, and I dont wear britches anyway (I live in my sarongs, lol). Never did put the logo back on, and dont plan to.

Did you find that you had any difference in your sales - more -less or the same?

I dumped the PS logo as well, some people feel that they don't get the service from a ps. Too big for britches sounds correct. I usually have one expensive item a month and many inexpensive, thus able to keep the ps status, but I don't advertise it any more. I think I provide wonderful service and my feedback speaks for itself.
I think it was hurting sales when I did use it.

Just a thought. I buy and sell equally, don't keep great records on my buying (don't want to think about how much I buy lol!) but sell enough to be a power seller. Choose not to be a power seller why??? When the IRS this year cracks down on internet sales and Ebay sales particularly (per a IRS Agent) whose records will they ask Ebay for First? I would hate to pay taxes on items I already paid taxes on when I feel like I am more a trader than a Seller. Being a Power Seller says "I AM IN BUSINESS" loud and clear. So if you are having fun playing on Ebay and buying AND Selling you better think if you really want to Announce that "You are a Seller".

I don't mind buying from a power seller but you don't get the personal treatment from them that you get from other sellers. I like when they write their own emails and not an automated one. It makes me feel like a number. That goes for all sellers not just the power sellers.
I like the one on one contact and not feel like i am talking to just a machine.
I still buy from them tho.

I was offered power seller status a long time ago, but just ignored it. There doesn't seem to be any benefits whatsoever.

How do you really know you don't get good service from PS? I too am a PS, and I don't use the logo or any of it - so there would be no way you would know if you purchased from me - and apparently from what I read above, many PS don't use the Logo.
I agree with the buyer that said "it makes you look to big for your britches."
I only keep the status for quick access to the PS Customer Service.
But, now, I probably don't even qualify any more as I have moved about 80% of my auctions to Yahoo and other sites, got tired of the rules and constantly increasing prices eBay charges - got sick of the eBay Managment attitude.

I've been a Bronze Powerseller since ebay first instituted the Powerseller program. Have never used the logo or advertised the fact. The one thing that I do like is that they have a special email address that Powersellers can send their correspondence to - the Powerseller staff's email responses have always been personalized and MUCH faster than they were when I was just sending them to ebay's standard email addresses.

Of the numerous purchases I've made on eBay since May 97, I've had five lousy transactions. Of those, four were Powersellers. I guess I look with a jaundiced eye toward those sellers.

I really don't think it matters one bit whether a seller is a PS or not. Ditto for real high feedback ratings. A seller is only as good as the auction(s) he is dealing with me.
Every auction order I fill is important and I give my buyers the same service I would want.

Thanks for the info - You all answered my question exactly the way I was thinking. It's not necessarily a good deal.
