I don't know much about computers, mail programs, ect.
I started getting this spam from someone who will sell me a book to teach me how to make $$$thousands$$$ a week on eBay.
It is addressed to: undisclosed [email protected] and NOT me personally so how am I getting it?
After about the 4th one in less than 1/2 hr I tried to return it to the sender, but it got bounced back with the notation "over the hourly email quota" whatever that means.
I use Outlook Express 5.0, is there anyway for me to block this address? Thanks for any help someone can give me.

Hello. I'm using Outlook Express 5.5 but I think the blocking procedure is the same as Outlook Express 5.0. Click on TOOLS, MESSAGE RULES, and BLOCKED SENDER'S LIST. Then just add their email address to the blocked list.

Highlight the spam message in your inbox. Then click on MESSAGE from the menu. From the pull down menu, click on BLOCK SENDER. I think that would do it.

bhearsch & jema thanks so much! I must be the only person on this guys mailing list so I am getting ALL his spam! I have already received 2 more just since posting. Still don't know how I am getting them since they are not really addressed to me. Maybe he is somehow getting my ISP to spam me for him? Oh well, once I block him it won't matter. Again thanks! sulyn

Yes go to message in outlook and click block sender. You can also go to file in outlook and click properties, than details, and it will give you the route it is taking. Cut and paste it and send it to postmaster@ your I/P address and every I/P listed in the routing. Tell them you are getting this unsolicited mail and desire they tell this person to stop sending it.

Hello sulyn1950. I received the same email but not in multiples. If I receive another one from the same source I will report it to Spamcop and they will have him shut down. Here is the URL;
http://spamcop.net/
I always give someone the benefit of the doubt the first time. The second time the offending email goes to Spamcop.

I started getting crap from this Spammer at the rate of 2 an hour.
These guys who harvest email addys from eBay really tick me off.
Well... I found him. I have his "real" email address, his name, address, and even his telephone number. This turkey is going through 3 servers that cris cross the country, forging headers, and forwarding through by forwarding through a 2 free email services.
I sent it all to eBay and each and every one of the services he is using. I just love the guys at Geek Tools!
EDIT: I found his eBay user ID. Any bets on how long it will take to get him tossed?

Hi, sulyn1950..You might also check with your ISP, in their help center, or call them, and see if they offer the Spaminator spam filter. My Mindspring does; that together with Spamcop, and I now receive relatively little spam anymore.
Spamcop teaches you exactly how to get the full headers, in order to mail them to them. It is easy: when you get a spam Email, open it fully; then go to FILE, down to PROPERTIES; select the DETAILS tab; on new screen, select MESSAGE SOURCE, bottom right; HIGHLIGHT the ENTIRE message from head to toes, right-click on it and choose COPY from drop-down flag. Go to SPAM COP and PASTE the entire message inside the provided field.

Well, I was just surprised that I could get a message that was not actually addressed to me. When I checked the route it had so much stuff I didn't understand, I gave up. I did find my ISP's name in all that stuff and then my ISP to MY address but the sent to was that "undisclosed recepient" thingy. Thanks to ya'll I won't be bothered by him again and now I know how to "erase" anyone I wanna! Wow! I feel the power......

I would just like to mention here that the real solution to the SPAM problem lies with Congress, not with software.
This last Spring, the American Marketer's Lobby (read: SPAM, junk mail, etc.) went and effectively blocked some much needed legislation in this area. They managed to overturn the pending bills only because of their new-found friends, the Republican Party.
Don't scream that I'm a democrat (I'm not), but CNN, Fox News, ABC, and other evening news broadcasts aired the spokesmam for the Republican Party in this matter and stated that they were going to back up the lobby's right to SPAM you and send you junk mail! The thing that most galled me the most was how smug these Republican Congressmen looked and how proud they were of doing it!
So, this Fall, if you want to stop the raping of your private information being sold as a commodity and endless hassles from Spammers, the don't vote Republican - vote some other party in that is consumer friendly.
(I watched Al Gore's acceptance speech too. He voiced support for our rights to not be victimized in this area, but it was quickly spoken under his breath and the subject quickly changed)
Who's going to make our time on eBay and other Internet spots a better place?

You go, Girl....
Still, for me personally, the best thing to do is to report these spammers; they DO get booted out by their ISP. I received several messages last week and 2 this week that some particular offenders have had their accounts cancelled. 2 were outrageous(based on the explicit language of the spam) teen porn sites. By reporting them, it makes for a safer environment for all users. Just deleting the message is like using a bandaid.
That is strictly my opinion...Not pushing it on anyone...after all, I am a democrat...

Reddeer: Thank you. I don't get pissed off very often, but this SPAMMER has the audacity to all but tell you that he harvested the addresses from eBay.
I got 4 more in the last 2 hours. I finally blocked him.
I went through a blind browser and looked at one of his SPAM pages. This genius has his real name on the page. It didn't make any sense to me so I waited for a commercial and asked Himself sitting on the sofa with his channel clicker for his considered opinion. Why would anyone go to the trouble to forge headers, route and reroute through 3 servers and then put their real name on the SPAM page? Without any hesitation he said, "Because he is just plain stupid". I think that about sums it up.
I am going to make sure I follow up on this one with the servers and eBay. I think the penalty should be that, for say a year, an electronic devise be attached to an important area of the Spammer's body. Something on the order of a miniature cattle prod. The Spammer would have to read SPAM for 10 hours a day and each time he opens a message he would get a well placed low voltage shock. Indeed, rehabilitation can work wonders.

Sulyn -
He's using BCC and spamming a BIG list. You can report him (if this is the "make thousands on Ebay, get GRANTS for eBay, and other crap)
Notice the URL for the website:
http://131.103.239.223/grants/index.html
That is hosted by VERIO.NET ... forward the spam to [email protected] and complain that they are hosting a spammer.
He's relaying through a variety of foreign mail servers in an attempt to avoid detection, but they all come FROM a UU.NET dialup in shreveport LA ... complain to [email protected] about their spammer.
I've sent the open relays off to the people who will warn them they are being abused and block mail from them until they increase the security for them.
