With all the international threads going, I thought I would start one more.

Recently I sent an international package air mail. I am not going to say to what country, because I am not picking on a country.

About 2 weeks later it is returned to me, with a stamp that is unreadable because it was stamped on the clear tape and blurred.

I e-mailed the buyer with the address I shipped it to and he said it was the right address and to "try it again. "

OK, because this was a small package, and under $5, and because this buyer was a little difficult from the get go ( "How much is shipping and it better be not more than $5 because that is all I am going to pay " was the way his first e mail started out)

I chose to just reship the dang thing. It arrived this time with no problem. On the reship I included the original box, so he could see the return to sender stamp.

But the issue still sticks with me. True, "it is the seller's responsibility to get the item to the buyer. "

But I did get it to the buyer, the package wasn't addressed wrong.
I was hoping the buyer would offer to split the cost of the second ship or something, but no luck.

His e mail read
"Made it this time, thanks. "

And he never even left feedback.

How would others handle this?

I would pay the return shipping.
Once in awhile it's best just to take the high road & move on to the next customer waiting in line.

This is a situation where neither the buyer or seller did anything wrong. I suspect the buyer assumed that you would simply put the parcel back in the mail without adding any new postage. (I know when I receive someone else's mail that has delivered to me in error, I simply place it back in the mail.)

I'd move on too. Is it really worthwhile to spend much time trying to collect $2.50 (1/2 the shipping cost) from someone who probably won't see your point of view?

Hi reddeer, thanks, and just so you know, it wasn't Canada.

stockticker,
The stamp was cancelled, I don't think I could have resent it?

True, for $5 it isn't worth it. Maybe I should have asked if it was $25 or so.

Anyway, 2 votes for doing what I did. Makes me feel better.

Chalk this one up to "someone screwed up, but we don't know who", and move on. Sh*t happens... even internationally

Barrelracer: I'm not sure if the cancelled stamp would have mattered. I am curious what the post office would say about that.
