I read in another thread that sound could be included in the listing. Can it? And if it can how is that done?

Oh, please, please, please don't include sounds in your listings.
It makes the listings that much larger which means it takes that much more time to download which means a lot of buyers will give up before they ever see what you're selling.
People who surf at work or in the bedroom or while watching TV or listening to music don't want to have sounds suddenly coming from their computer.
The odds that the music you like and add to your listing will be music that your buyer likes and wants to listen to are pretty small.
When I hit a listing with music, it doesn't matter what they're selling. I hit the back button immediately. It's really obnoxious.

I believe you will find the majority of posters to this topic will advise you to leave the music OUT. Me included. I also "back" out of auctions that have music.

Great topic!
Audio is coming fast to the Web.
I just found a audio-only chat room, and this technology will soon make these types of message boards obselete.

A silent online auction is the best online auction.

Making the link is EASY ... but it crashes some browsers, annoys MANYlookers, AND slows the download to a crawl.
IF you want to do something that will DECREASE your sales, let me know and I'll give you the code.

The advantage of text-based chat is like that of email over phone calls ... you don't have to be there 24x7 to keep up with the topics.

"If a tree falls in your auction, and NOBODY hears it, did it make a sound?"

Ditto .. bad idea! If any music comes up with an auction, I hit the back button really fast! Annoying!
I have a memory like a steel trap .. unfortunately it's rusted shut!

I don't know how to ad sound to an auction, but I DO know that before my last upgrade (this past December), any automatic midis would freeze up my pc and I needed to reboot.
I avoided sites with midis like the plague! Now my pc can handle it but I still have that bad taste in my mouth from my previous experiences with midis. I can't help but think of all the other poor souls out there who still have crappy pcs like my old system.
I don't recommend adding sound. Sorry.

Add my name to that list.
I don't care what you're selling or how much I want it, nothing will get me to back out of an auction faster than a MIDI file.

Heaven forbid, I would never put music on my auctions. The idea that I had was, I was going to sell wind chimes and I thought that a attached sound of the chimes to the auction might be nice. Then again I might be wrong.

takes the page longer to download
so it's a waste of the bidder's time
so I wouldn't recommend it

pandjent,
Why not compromise and say something like "To hear the wind chimes click here"?
That way you're not forcing it on people and it may turn out to be a useful little tool.

Not for those of us who (a) like to surf at night or at work, (b) while we're listening to our OWN music or watching a TV movie, (c) don't feel like talking or can't, (d) have our speakers turned off because we're sick to death of getting startled out of our seats by somebody's hideous .wav file blaring at us, and (e) actually like to review what we're saying publicly before we post it, rather than just saying the first thing that comes into our heads.

Oh please, no sound, no sound!
I keep my headset plugged in so I can voice chat with my mom, or make free long distance phone calls with MSN. When I hit a website or auction with sound, I can't even reach over and turn the speakers down, I have to scramble around and open up the Windows volume control center and mute everything to get it to go away, or else just hit the back button real fast. Yuck!!
I provide my own "sound" from my MP3 collection, and don't wish to be treated to others' idea of "good music" thank you very much! I really doubt y'all would want to bring up an auction of mine and be treated to MY music, either, lol. Minor Threat, System of a Down, Rob Zombie, or Nine Inch Nails while you browse my book, lingerie or fabric auction, anyone? Nah, didn't think so.
