Does AOL provide a "Status Report" department in their HELP place? or do they HAVE a HELP place?
For example, with Mindspring (now Earthlink), I can go to "Help", look for STATUS, and it will give me a traffic report and name the areas affected by "downtime", or any other problem.
If you have a choice in the area where you live, you would probably be better off with a real ISP, with freedom of browser, free from all the ads AOL puts into their browser.

I lived with AOL for over a year. They don't call it AO Hell for nothing. It's not fun switching, but it will be worth it when you do. Earthlink gives you a complete easy-to- install CD if you don't want to manually link up your browser and email.
My downloads are faster, I rarely get cut off, most dialups are one dial away. My email is accessible from at least three different web accounts.
I wouldn't recommend AOL to my worst enemy, but then again some people willingly drink poison Kool-Aid.

Shoshanah,
Uh, there are no ads on AOL's browser.
And, they have many areas for help. You can get help live online, by phone, and probably some other ways. The few times that I've need help, they've been fast and friendly.
