VERO: VErified Rights Owner

Netscape crash: Happens occasionally to me too. Seems to happen most often if I have multiple copies of it open or am low on system resources. The more recent versions (it's now at 4.75 - you can check your version by clicking on Help then About Netscape or About Communicator) seem less prone to do that.

If you are getting that message more than you like (more than about once a day would be way too much for me...), then get a different browser - either check out internet explorer from microsoft, or upgrade your netscape. Both options are free.

An illegal operation is something related to a program interacting with Windows. This happens with just about every Win program.
It may or may not be fixed with an upgrade.

Windows is very prone to having fits. I recommend that you shut down/restart once a day or so--this usually clears the rubbish that accumulates when it runs for a while.

yes,the older browsers will do that...

yes,low system resources will cause it...

yes,Windows can be very idiotic in it's interactions and cause it..

but please remember...

DO YOUR MAINTENANCE!

this means ScanDisk and Defrag!

I also have an MS program called RegClean that I do as well...

WORKS WONDERS!

better luck in the future...

This is another thing that you might think about: ventilation for your computer.

That's right, is your system kept cool enough? During the Summertime, home pc's tend to run hotter since most folks aren't running air conditioning even as hot as it gets. As the system heats up, your system memory tends to show any weak spots (they all have them) and when a program tries to access an area gone south due to heat prostration, it causes that very problem.

Suggestion: take the lid off of the can and make sure it sits up above the floor to dust and dirt out. If you have a fan that you use for cooling, also concider pointing it in the direction of the open can to help provide additional cooling.

Here is a column from a computer magazine I used to write for (when I used to have spare time on my hands) that talks about keeping your PC cool:

http://www.computerbits.com/archive/20000800/hotcomputer.htm

When my pc gets hot, everything begins to crash, then lock up. Lately, it has been dropping my network protocals and I have to reboot in order to get back onto the Internet.

Good Luck!
