reston_ray,

Even though the seller of these auctions is an AW member, you must follow the requirements of the CG to notify him of this thread and invite him to participate.

Sorry, but I must lock this thread until the requirements of the CG have been met.

Everyone,

I apologize. I didn't see ToyRanch's post. Blame it on early onset senility.

Flaming gladiator is way too funny. I wonder when, and under what alias, he will appear here.

reston_ray excerpts from an earlier media report.

"Since I have always considered myself a connoisseur of Art and a patron of the Texas School of Impressionism, I was delighted to have this opportunity to add another major piece to my already extensive collection.
Imagine my disappointment when my generous bid of 25 cents above the then high bid not only didn't secure the drawing but was immediatly out bid by a proxy. I now expect the Japanese have entered the bidding and a new record is possible.

I will have to reconsider my strategy and consult with the 22:22:22 experts on the DNF board.

I was also surprised that the offering contained no mention of the provenance, any certificate of authenticity nor mention if a limited number of signed prints will be issued. Hopefully the gallery managing this offering will correct that oversite.

I am contacting local businessmen and am confident that, much like the Redskins which you all can view this evening on national TV, when we want the best for our community, money is no object.

Your all encouraged to visit our Premier region, view this Verified masterpiece in a setting equal to it's greatness and be assured that our hospitality is always (almost) Free."

Might I suggest an addition to the one with the heart cut out, underneath the flying egg, of a "Dr.Koop.Com" logo so you'll have a fried X flying the coop in cyberspace?

Why thank you Comic123! Stupid auctions with people having a little FUN is one of the things that is most needed at ebaY, IMO. eBay USED to be a lot of fun, but alas the fun is gone for many, and that's why a lot of people like it so much... when it's fun! Stupid auctions rule! I'm honored that you find my auctions stupid!

Out, damned spot! Out, I say! One- two- why then 'tis time to do't. Hell is murky. Fie, my lord, fie! A soldier, and afeard? What need we fear who knows it, when none can call our power to account? Yet who would have thought the old man to have had so much blood in him?

Lady M. Seemed fitting. Good luck with the auctions, ToyRanch.

What I dont get about any of these funny auctions is - will someone actually pay the high bid and will ebay actually collect closing fees? I'm sure you've seen the other auctions, like the one for the 24 kids. Some of these closed for serious money.

If I recall, the auction for the USSR sub went to the millions. I bet most of the bidders in this auction are from AW too.

Y-Hola!

Good catch reston_ray.

A private auction with 40 bids, and the price still under $15.

Looks like a clear case of shilling and bid-padding here.

This need to be reported to SafeHarbor.

toomanycomics:

They NARU'ed me for 90 days for less then what this guy is doing.

I heard they have a zero-tolerance for bid-padding and shilling now.

Good catch reston_ray. From one Ray to another, I hope they toast this cheater.

Raygomez.....give us all a break!

There is no bid shill here, just fun.

Probably no bid-padding either - now if some one will just tell me what bid-padding is.

Please feel free to report it to SafeHarbor. There is no shilling. There is no cheating. There is no padding. Some people on another message board were using that auction as a test to see if outbid notices are being generated or not (result, they were for a while, and then they stopped again )and having some fun bidding on the auction at the same time.

But really, investigations are welcome because there are no rules violations in that auction, nor any of my auctions.

Guilty as charged My acquired artwork hangs above this computer even as I type. And yes--good ole eBay got their cut--private auction or no.

As an afterthought--toyranch---is that kicky curser thingee copyrighted? It was so much FUN!! Honest! Would not use it always--but there are certain auctions that this would really work! Thanks!

I think that is SO neat!!!!

Is Bobby noticing how many bids his art is receiving? Is he showing any interest in this?

If they're shilling, they need lessons.

It looks awfully weird, if you ask me.

The auction has less that 12 hours since its listing (about 5 real exposure hours, if you count the indexing), and it has already 45 bids from 28 different bidders.

Perhaps this was the only auction without a PayPal logo during the big PayPal outage so it was the only one available to bid on?
