I have done pretty well on half.com as a new seller and am impressed - first flush of success I know. Today I went to buy something and am now totally confused.
On a search by name the book shows up in two or more paragraphs. One will say out of stock, the other will show a lot of options. When I think I'm looking at a hard cover edition it shows a few paperbacks.
Seems awful misleading to me and I can't find a way to email the seller to find out what's what. And what's happening to my listings, should I put hard cover in all descriptions? I tought the ISBN number took care of that.
Any help out there? (Dumb question, I've learned a lot in the last few weeks).

Maybe it's just me, but I don't really understand what the problem is. Have you clicked on any of the listings that come up? If you do that will give you a better idea of what is being sold or do I not understand what you are saying.
When you list a book that is a hardcover and it says paperback I usually sate in the description that it's hardcover. I also let half.com know about the error. Sometimes they fix it and sometimes they don't.

I know exactly what you mean. Some of the ones I have listed say paperback but are hardback novels. I always put it in the description line. I am also confused by their pay schedule. I received a check yesterday but the amount still shows as pending at half.com. Whats with that?

I assume that a title search should show up with only one title. The same title shows up two or three times on the same search result -same edition - some are out of stock - some are in stock.
I thought the ISBN distinguished hard cover from soft cover.
Guess I'll just go on making believe I'm in my right mind.

The title search will bring up hardcover & paperback editions as well as various editions of both. Are you sure the ones you are looking at are the same edition. Is the year they were published the same? I've noticed that people mix audio books in with the regular books. You can also find large print. Some people put softcover where the hardcover should be. Some of the mistakes are Half.com's fault and some are due to seller errors.
The ISBN if it is for a hardcover should bring up the hardcover edition, however, Half.com has lots of errors in their system so you really need to be careful. My way of figuring things out is just to click on everything in sight and eventually I can figure it out. Not very efficient but it works for me.

I've had great success with half.com as a seller. One thing that I noticed was when I entered a couple of ISBN numbers, the description automatically popped up as a hardcover, when acutally it was a soft cover. I noted in the comment area. There is no way for you to contact a seller through half.com. All sales are through them, you post the books, people buy them from half.com and half.com pays you.

Thanks for the feedback and tips. My old uncle was right - Rules (or directions) are made for when your brains run out.
