I bought a book on eBay and paid through Paypal (I know, I know. But I was in a hurry.) The seller notified me the book was in the mail. Then a bit later she sent another email saying that she had two books on the same subject end at the same time, and she had sent me the wrong book. She asked me to send it back to her at her expense, and ALSO refunded my entire payment through Paypal as an apology!! Talk about good customer service! I wouldn't have asked her for it, because mistakes do happen, but it was very generous of her to do it. Luckily she had not sent out my book yet to the other person, so she put it in the mail. I then offered to send the other book on to the correct owner (since I sell all the time it's no trouble to slap on another label and take it to the post office) and now the problem is fixed. Just wanted to post some good news and to say that there are some excellent customer-oriented sellers out there who can see that the big picture is more important than the 10 dollar loss she took for the refund. You can bet I will be giving her great feedback and checking her auctions again.

Hi Kim,

Speaking from experiance....I'll bet your seller spent a few minutes pounding her head against the wall, and a few more praying to the auction gods that you wouldn't be irked!

Looks like we have here both a classy seller AND a classy buyer!

I haven't yet shipped a wrong book, but I recently shipped the wrong copy of a book. Both were same overall condition, except that one had an inscription and the other did not. Not something most people can keep track of, but I am pretty zealous. I put a note in with a one dollar bookmark and told the customer if she was unsatisfied, I'd simply refund the rest of her purchase price as I didn't have another copy. She was very pleased.

Nice thread!

It's good to see something positive once, why are the negative threads always so popular!

I sell brand new collectible memorabilia widgets (fairly inexpensive), and once or twice I've sent the wrong one (usually when my kids where helping pack orders, LOL). When the buyer informs me, yes, I am scared that they are very upset! I tell them to please keep the item, free of charge, and I'll send the new (and hopefully correct) item ASAP. They've been very kind about it.

As a buyer I've had really good experiences (but in truth I sell much more than I buy). I never had to neg any sellers. On my latest purchase, a video, the seller sent along a bag of microwave popcorn, labelled with their name & Ebay ID! It was a little thing, but I was tickled! Made me feel good & I left great feedback (but I would have anyhow).

I recently bought a computer disk from a seller. Paypal'd on 9/7 - havn't received product yet. Notified seller, wrote back that she had double checked her system and gave me the date it went out. responded next day that still hadn't arrived and I got back the quickest most apologetic e-mail. Informed me she was sending another out priorty mail and including something "special" for my patience.

It's nice to see respectable sellers whom don't believe that the transaction ends at the post office.

I'm not interested in the something "special" but's it's nice to see.
