Hi have a person in Japan wanting to bid, very nice emailed me first! wants to use international postal money order,i asked my postmaster & he said hasn't done one in a while could take 6 weeks to get the money?
I sure thought i read here a while back you can cash them right at the post office?
if not the post office does the bank charge a fee? thanks for any info, you guys always help so much pam Oregon

Yes. You should be able to cash them at the Post Office right on the spot. But it has been my experience that many of postal employees are ignorant of this fact. Asking for a supervisor should do the trick.

I cash 'em regularly at my local post office. Some of the clerks are a bit shakey, but they push some buttons, stick the check into a gizmo, it prints something on the back, and they give me the $$.
The key, I think, it International POSTAL Money Order. International Money Orders are another kinda animal.

I asked the exact same question (elsewhere) and got lots of responses that yes, as long as it's an international POSTAL mo you are fine. The max is $700 .. so they would need more than one for higher amount.
Only ones who couldn't answer the question were people I called at various post offices!
I have a memory like a steel trap .. unfortunately it's rusted shut!
