From the eBay announcement board.
"Several months ago, we asked for your input on improving the Item Watch process. As a result of your input, we will begin sending out new Item Watch reminder e-mails today. The e-mails will be sent to you only if you have items on your “watch” list and will remind you of items that you are watching that are about to end."

Why can't they send emails to sellers informing that their item is being watched by "xxxxxx"? That would be informative.

The eBay rep that pushed this feature stated that it would be too much of a system resource sucker. Hmmmmm.

It would be better for sellers if the number of "watchers" was presented, for all to see, in the auction listing itself. Might turn some of the watchers into bidders.

My suggestion (as a seller) would have been to get rid of the watch feature altogether, in order to increase Ebay revenue (a totally selfless suggestion, you understand ). Loved it as a buyer, but now that the table's turned......

Do you guys remember about a week ago when eBay announced that they were going to have to discontinue all repeat indexing routines ... so now when you update your auction's title or description, that change won't be picked up by the search engines. It was an "emergency measure" and they were trying to "address" the problem.
I think it's very coincidental that they take away this feature that is of great benefit to me, and I assume everyone else ... and give us emails on the watch feature.
Emails, that I too would be willing to bet, will be too late to be of value.

For people who like the watch feature (I HATE it!) or are bidding on auctions on different venues, I have found that Auction Tamer is a GREAT tool. It keeps all of the auctions from all of the venues right in front of you by time left so that you don't miss any of them. It lessens the pain of having to go from venue to venue to check the auctions that you are bidding on all of the time in case you need to place a higher bid.
I have been using it for auction management and just found this feature.
