I purchased a digital scale the other day on ebay. Thank god it was new in the package. When it arrived today, the box it was packed in was in shambles. I can tell it was a new priority box when it left the seller, but it had a battle on its way here. There are big holes punched in it and one end is torn and crushed. The scale is fine though. There is no excuse for USPS to handle merchandise like this. I did email seller what had happened.

I would also complain to my postmaster.

Sheesh.....Are the employees going "postal" on the packages now? Just in time for the Christmas season! :/

Two weeks ago I had a shipment I sent to a buyer arrive in the same shape the goods in this package didnt survive though .

The buyer sent a picture to me of the package before it was open and what a mess it was wet sealed in plastic wrap had plastic bands on it and they must have used the bands to lift and carry the package on top of the corners dents crushing it was caved in on top and ripped on the side where the bands were pulled and cut into it.

mind you the package was only in the POs hands less them 50 hours total.

Wow! Counting my lucky stars here! Over 300 packages Priority this year with nary a hassle. UPS on the other hand......OY! I think they may be hiring people who were fired from the USPS for this very thing. Every package (yes, I said EVERY!) I have sent through UPS this year has been either a hassle at the counter (they didn't like my tape or packing job, insisting on opening every package to inspect the contents, etc...) and/or has been damaged in some way, and substantially at that. Hard to do any biz that way!

When I used to sell beanies we had many priority mail packages arrive at their destinations with 2-3 inch holes cut in the side (like somone was attempting to see what was inside the package). We had several complaints from customers about this. I called the post office and complained and it never happened again.

I'm a newbie and have had one item arrive broken out of about 100 sells. The buyer said the Postmaster said it had been packed great, but the whole box was crushed! while doing the Ins. thing, my PM told me about a friend of his who was on a plane a few weeks ago and the handlers had failed to put some Priority mail on as the plane was taking off, they stopped and without putting the ramps back up they started throwing the mail bags from the ground to the cargo doors.Said mail and small packages were going everywhere! This is what we pay such high shipping cost for! A buyer of mine told me a couple of weeks ago about watching a Postal worker pull a loading door down three times on fallen packages. When he still couldn't get the door closed, he kicked the packages back in to close the door. Gives me the shivers evertime I pack something!

For the past 3 or more months ALL of my Priority packages have been arriving considerably more beat up than they had been previously. None of the boxes are reusable (I had been able to use a lot of Priority boxes a second time, in the past.) And most of them have dents or holes in them. This week I got one with the bottom edge completely crunched in. The postal carrier pointed it out to me and said I'd want to check it. To my immense surprise, the dish inside it was OK! I guess I was lucky that the seller had used the large Priority box to ship an egg plate, and apparently it was towards the top of the box and hadn't been damaged. Been having to file a claim for breakage once or twice a month, now. Had only had 3 or 4 breakages, total, in a year and a half with over 100 glass purchases, previously.
