Need some help/advice. Auction closed on Thursday. Emailed high bidder that day~~aol addy~~ and it was returned as unknown mailbox. Double checked email addy and tried again~~returned again. I have emailed daily since Thursday they have all been returned. All other emails I have sent to aol addys have gone through fine. What should I do next? File NPB, pull buyers contact info or wait? Thanks in advance for any responses~~D

It's entirely possible that this person on AOL has filters enabled. Go to the auction page on eBay and use the "send this auction to a friend" link - replace the "canned" text with your own, include your email address, and tell them to turn off their filters.

Glenda you are so smart!!! You amaze me....tell me...why do I often get the little yellow triangle at the bottom of Internet Explorer/Outlook Express that says error? When this pops up, I have to reboot or cannot connect to anything???
Thank you

If you feel that the cost of the item merits it, request the buyer's contact information and give them a call. If not, report the situation to Ebay, after using the "Email this auction to a friend link to send an EOA" as suggested. If Ebay gets a bounce back on their email, the user will be suspended until they update their email info. At that point, you can either relist the item and file an NPB and FVF or you can hold the item in hopes that the person will then change their email addy to a working one.

Wasn't aware that you could use the above
methods. I've always had trouble sending email to aol. What I do is copy email I send from my ISP and paste to email I send via
myauctionwatch. This works well for me and
aol seems to accept and deliver it.

I recently had this problem w/an AOL bidder. Apparently put a filter on & then didn't realize her EOA's weren't getting throught.
Even using the "send this auction to a friend" from ebay didn't get through.
Sooo, I pulled her bidding history & asked another seller if he/she had been in contact w/them & asked if they'd pass along I've been trying to contact her.
Voila...she got the message from the other seller & contacted me, apologizing for the filter situation.
Another thing to keep in mind is to contact SafeHarbor..they can reach them sometimes when I can't. You can pull their contact information but I refuse to waste my $$$ calling bidders, especially over low ticket items.

An unknown mailbox is a dead one. Try from Yahoo or Hotmail. If still dead, report to safeharbor, with a copy of the returned email and they will NARU this bidder. If you want to call the customer you can, but if it is a low-priced item, it's not worth it.

Yeah this email stuff isn't perfect.
I had a winning bidder on two items who's emails bounced. She had been registered on ebay since 1997 and had all good feedback except for 2 recent neg's complaining about the bad email.
So I pulled the contact info and called her, left message. She called back the next day and was very apologetic. She didn't know that her email was down but wondered why she wasn't getting much Email. She gave me a different email address and mailed a check for the items. And thanked me profusely for alerting her to the problem.

That would seem like a logical conclusion. However, it is not necessarily true, particularly with AOL. My husband gets occasional rejects and, until recently, would forward them to me and I would resend. If I did get a reject, the error message I got was not "unknown mailbox."
Now he goes to the auction and uses the "mail this auction to a friend" and it works 99% of the time.
