The items don't have to be identical. For example, the seller could offer 100 green widgets and 100 blue widgets. However, the seller can not offer a "choice." This sounds more like a choice auction. You should contact [email protected] if you have questions. Powersellers doesn't handle it. The auction is a clear violation of eBay rules.

The only exception to the requirement that all items be identical relates to trading card listings. Lots of trading cards need not be identical due to the nature of these sales in the trading card arena.

Yes this sounds like a mistake in listing them as "dutch". At least most bidders are smart enough not to bid.
