Well, I'd have to say both my customer and I are lucky their payment got to me in one piece! I received a money order today and the envelope was quite rumpled and partially torn. I'm sure it got jammed in a machine somewhere. But where we got lucky was that my customer didn't fill the money order all the way out. It's a postal money order and all they put on it was my first name. *wiping sweat from brow for both of us*
A big thank you to the postal worker who noticed it and pulled it out of that dang machine in time!

I got a check in the mail today, and promptly dropped it into a puddle (it was pouring rain). I got it into the house as the ink was running off the envelope, but thank goodness it was a money order, and not a personal check with ink on it! Double-WHEW!

mouse, don't you love it when buyers don't fill out money orders completely? I received one once which the buyer had only signed. He didn't even bother filling out who it was to or my address. The shocking part was that he had also left his receipt half attached to the money order also. It looked like he bought it, signed it at the counter, stuffed it into the envelope and mailed it immediately. I sent his box out and inlcuded a little warning that not all buyers were as honest as I was.

When I get mangled mail it is always in an sort of shrink wrapped envelope from the PO with a message so sorry....
The last mangled envelope one was torn in half as was the check. I returned it to the buyer in the PO envelope and she was very understanding.
The PO here must be pretty bad. I get at least one mangled piece of mail every few weeks.

I received a letter from the PO in one of their shrink wrap bags with a torn money order that was not cashable. I emailed the buyer to let him know and he accused me of lying! I finally had to scan it so he could see it! Totally ridiculous!

[B]sweil[/B}, that's the second one I got that wasn't filled out. I'm not that trusting, but at least I'm trustworthy!
Usually the only thing around here that mangles the mail is our dog. See we have the slot in the door type and I think he sees it as an intrusion. He rips the mail out of her hand as she pushes it through! But she's very careful to not let her fingers go in too far...She asked me not too long ago if we had thought of getting a regular mailbox

I regularly get Money Orders that have not been filled out. If it is a Postal Money Order it isn't a problem as no sig is required, but the others that require a sig have to be sent back to be filled out and that increases the wait time for both myself and my customers! <sigh>

I had four depression plates that I had sent to an eBay buyer that were returned to me by the USPS three weeks later. The remnants of the waterlogged box and packing were all mushed up in a big plastic bag. The receipt was under the bubble wrap and was still legible. The dishes were OK, thank heavens but the smell was awful. The USPS explanation? "Things happen." After some wrangling I got a refund on the postage. The buyer was understanding.

that reminds me...I've started putting a clear piece of packing tape over every address on all my packages. I know I've had packages sitting out in the rain all day...I'd hate the hassle if just one of my packages couldn't get to where it was going because the address couldn't be read.
I've only rec'vd two mangled envelopes with payments in them...not bad. I have more that never show up.
