Starting Oct. 9 we will have to choose our image hosting service. Will this effect any of AW services such as Image hosting, Auction Manager or AM pro?

I think this will take an answer from one of the AW tecchies, because one has to know how this part of the announcement applies to them:
Note to Third Party Developers: We do not expect any problems if you use the following Sell Your Item pages
http://cgi5.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ListItemForSaleShow
http://cgi5.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ListItemForSaleShow&item=0&category=281&oldstyle=0&page=2&u=0¤cy=0
As I read it, the "choosing" part will only apply to those users who list manually through the Ebay "List My Item" feature. I suspect that listing services such as AW will come up with a patch to "choose" for their users.

I'm not sure if I understand the announcement, but I hope this means we may continue to host our images where it suits us best, without fees, as long as we use one of the 2 listing pages shown. I hope. I find my items sell better with lots and lots of images (I sell antiques and old things) and don't want to pay extra fees to have extra images.

Pickersangel, Use straight brackets such as
[......] with no spaces between brackets and words.

pickersangel- Italics don't seem to work for UBB. Try b for bold instead.

There are no carraige returns allowed between the italics on and the italics off UBB commands. That is why italics sometimes don't seem to work.

I went to the Ebay announcement board and read what they had to say and am still totally confused. I use several photo hosting sites. AW, my AOL space, even one other sometimes as well as maybe using Ebay's. Are they wanting us to select just one and stick to it?
And, if I read it correctly, the photo's only stay up throughout the listing so I wonder how that will effect the relists? Are they there waiting for that or would you have to upload new ones each time? Anyone have experience with using Ebay photo hosting?

I THINK you don't need to do anything differently.
At some point, while listing, you'll be asked whether you want to choose eBay's pic hosting as your default. If you choose, no, I think life goes on as before. The outside pic hosts need to update their URL's though.
Look for eBay to start limiting the number of pics in auctions "in response to our member's complaints about slow loading times;" or some such. This will really be an effort to steer folks to the fee-based pic hosting by eBay.

Thanks for the thread...and x, thanks for the link. MagGuy..I hope you are right....
"If you use any other page, we recommend that you use one of the two pages above to minimize problems. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that your software will not have problems. We encourage you to take a look at the photo hosting pages to see how this feature can work with your products and services."
Talk about "scare" technique.....! A hard sales pitch if I ever saw one.

Hi everyone;
AuctionWatch.com already uses the forms eBay recommends:
---------------------------
Note to Third Party Developers: We do not expect any problems if you use the following Sell Your Item pages
http://cgi5.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ListItemForSaleShow
---------------------------
We do not expect to be impacted by eBay's coming changes, however we have scheduled additional ACP resources for the 9th just in case.
A small factoid: Image hosting will always be unlimited, free and reliable at AuctionWatch. People trust us with over 100,000 uploaded images per day, as a matter of fact. Why pay to host them elsewhere? =)
Cheers,
Mark
