Hi - OK, so I logged onto Exchangepath. It looks a lot like PayPal looked last spring: "Free!!" "$10 sign up bonus!!" "Pay for your auctions!!"
I'm getting burned out on these services.
Is there any point in signing up for yet another one? Why would this one stay free if PayPal is now charging fees? Do any buyers use it?

This one probably won't stay free. Their TOU states that they may charge in the future. Translation: We WILL charge in the future.
BUT: They aren't lying about it. The service works great. And you can accept VISA, MC, Discover, American Express, and Diner's Club for FREE at least for now.
I've been using them for close to 6 weeks and everything has went very well.

I'm signing up with all of the free services. I signed up this week with ExchangePath and PayPlace, and I was already signed up with PayMe. I also found out tonight while browsing the site, that Western Union has a free service too.
I think the added ability to take credit
cards other than Visa or Mastercard might be helpful in making a sale that otherwise might not happen. Exchangepath takes these cards in addition to Visa and Mastercard: Discover, JCB, Diners Club International, and American Express. PayPlace also takes American Express.

but don't expect the ten bucks till you do all this:
Dear Member:
Thank you for contacting ExchangePath Customer Service. This message is
in response to your previous inquiry.
What you would need to do is sign up for an account with a
credit or debit card and conduct one transaction. A transaction is
defined as one of the following:
· Send money
· One successful referral (your referral must sign up with
a credit or debit card)
· Make a purchase at one of our merchant partners.
After you complete enrollment with a credit or debit card and perform
one transaction, your bonus will be automatically deposited into your
account.

>>Bookdealers or anyone: Can you give me the URL for PayPlace and PayMe? Thanks!<<
Avoid Payme! They held up a payment to me for over a month claiming my buyer's account was being investigated for fraud. Since this was not his first purchase from me and the only reason he used payme was because he hit his Paypal limit, I did not think so. But then they held up my payment to another seller for two months claiming that I was being investigated for fraud. For two months they stonewalled and lied and I had to do a charge back before they finally moved on it. I have heard similar stories from other sellers.

I would suggest avoiding Payme AND Payplace. Payme I've heard nothing but bad things about - scams, taking months to receive payments, etc. Payplace I had 2 successful transactions, and then with my 3rd, they told me I had to add another bank account or I couldn't get my money. They didn't respond to emails and I ended up having them mail me a check (which could take a couple weeks) because they wouldn't transfer it to my bank account. I still haven't received the check and it's for $13. I took Payplace off ALL my auctions.

So PP will force you to upgrade, and charge you a fee. Free ones?...
"There is no fee for creating and using your Yahoo! PayDirect account. In the future, transaction fees may apply, but you will be notified before they are put into effect."
Sooner or later they will all charge a fee. But hey, keep jumping around to all the ones that are free today, sooner or later you'll find one that will screw you good.
Me, I'll stick with PP.
