Hi: I just went to register with PayDirect and they wanted my credit card number? Why? Since I'm only a seller and will only be transfering funds that I receive from buyers into my bank account, as I do with PayPal, why do they need my CC number? If there is a place on the site to enter bank account numbers, I didn't see it. Now it is possible that I have to get through the credit card info page first, but I'm not sure. Has anyone used PayDirect? Can you tell me how it works? I'm confused! Thanks!

I just finished the signing up process with PayDirect. The credit card: I think this is to somehow prevent fraud. EBay wanted sellers' credit cards for the same reason, even if they were going to pay off their accounts through the mail. In a few days, Yahoo! will send you an envelope where you confirm your address and can enter your bank information with voided check and all. Supposedly a bit more secure for them, us, and the buyers. I guess if you want a free service, it's okay to jump through a few little hoops.

I believe it's to verify you. Maybe, too, somewhere in the future they will be expanding their services like PayPal did...and will need your number for other reasons.

From what I understand you need a credit card number now for anything to do with Yahoo auctions. I signed up with them years ago with my credit card number so they already had it. You also need one to bid, buy and sell on Yahoo now I think. It is a way for Yahoo to cut down on Fraud and kids coming in and playing around. seems to be working. ( I sell on Yahoo auctions along with Ebay.
If you have a checking account you can just get a back card visa and the visa will work like a check from your check book. That is what I did so I wouldn't run up credit card bills I have one just for internet stuff that I only keep a few hundred in. Almost all banks have them now and no cost to you but a few are lagging behind.
I have been using paydirect for over a month now and I love it. Runs smoothly and they have a FAST tranfer rate.

Even bidders are required to have a credit card on file with Yahoo now.

Yes, you have to verify a credit card to even bid on Yahoo. Security yadda yadda yadda yadda....
Actually one of the features I like best about PAyDirect is that you can credit customer payments directly to your credit card.

Of course having your credit card number would make it a lot easier for them in case a buyer pays with a fraudulent card or initiates a charge back - they can simply debit your card for the amount they already paid you.

If your debit card has a visa logo you can use it. Then you won't need to use your credit card.

PayDirect is a service of Yahoo! They are the biggest internet company. They are 10x bigger than ebaY. They are a very profitable company that is in it for the long term. Their stock is publicly traded
I consider PayDirect to be in a totally different class than the other 'PaySomethings' of the world.

When you log in to your account, on the left hand side "view limits" is listed under ACTIONS highlighted in yellow. Just click on that.
