Within the past year, we have decided to "downsize" and drastically simplify our lives by clearing out all the excess. As an avid (mostly) e-bay buyer, I thought I'd just become a seller and clean things out around here. We bought everything we thought we needed to sell our things, including a Mavica digital camera and a UMAX scanner, but ... YIKES ... rather than simplifying life, I've complicated it a hundred times over! I've studied, researched, reviewed, and I've come to realize that I don't have time for all this! It would be far easier to just sell what we have in a bulk lot to someone who enjoys selling on auction sites and/or does it for a living or for extra income.
Now my question. Does anyone here know of a place where I could go to find those who are interested in buying a bulk lot of household merchandise? It's all great stuff; no junk. I gave all the lesser stuff to a friend for her garage sales. It includes lots of books, some Lenox, collectible plates, miscellaneous household items, clothing, etc. If we don't use something or haven't used it for a year, out it goes!
If anyone has any idea of a direction for me to turn, I would surely appreciate his/her help. Thanks so much!

Finally the definative post that sorta kinda puts in nutshell what we ebayers do!
My thoughts---sell me your Sony pronto!
And take a nice healthy tax write off when you donate the items--make sure you put em in the box!
Or---do a Box lot sort of sale on line. Get like things together, take a pic or two--make sure you estimate postage for weight--don't quote a definate price--and have some fun!
That's what its all about.
edited to add--you need someone like me to organize--categorize--and list! It's not as easy as it seems---but just like riding a bike--once you get the hang of it--it's fun--honest. Try just one itty bitty auction--see how it goes--you will be hooked!

Or, you could take it to a RL auction house - they do all the work, take 15% and you get the rest. At least it used to be 15% - not sure anymore....

Jeanyu, thanks, but as I said I don't have time for all this. My husband is a minister, and just about the time I try to devote a couple of hours to "the project", someone needs us, and that is our top priority. Also, we are building a new church, and that has stretched our time available to its limits. I'm not looking for a hobby, a job, etc. ... just a way to begin to put our home in order again, simply and quickly. But indeed, the camera is probably going to go as well

You could name a price and sell it as one lot in everything else /wholesale goods and tell them what size truck to bring.
I go to auctions at u-store places and people bid hundreds of dollar for a room full of who knows what? - You can only see the surface.
You could do the same with a garage sale. - Nobody allowed in - just look in the door and run an auction at noon - winner takes all.
