I filed for a non-paying bidder final fee request on ebay. Much to my surprise I got the following
e-mail, that was sent to the bidder and me the seller...........Congratulations on your recent winning bid for 427366652, CUTE SLEEPING CAT PICTURE. Your seller, louber, has contacted eBay. We've been told that you have decided not to purchase this item.

If this is correct, do nothing and enjoy your time on eBay. However, if this is not correct (you have purchased or intended to purchase this item), please tell us by writing to [email protected] and include "Not Correct" in the subject line of your email.

Thanks for your assistance.

Regards,

eBay SafeHarbor Team

I left out the deadbeats e-mail address, how nice of them to tell the deadbeat bidder to do nothing and ENJOY their time on ebay. Don't you think if they intended to buy the item they would have sent me payment. This is disgusting. After e-mailing ebay I got a note that said................Thank you for writing and drawing our attention to your concern in this
important matter.

This response is generated when the seller selects the reason for refund
as a mutual backout owing to a refund or mutual aggreement not to
complete the trade. The mutual backout notice is a means through which
we are able to keep track of sellers who may be abusing the refund
process.

Once an Alert has been filed, the information in the Alert may not be
altered, though if this buyer continues on in their current pattern,
they will be asked to exit eBay shortly.

I do get my share of deadbeats, but I would never abusing the refund process. I thought you were permitted to get your fees back from deadbeats. I never told ebay that the bidder decided not to purchase the item, I told them I never received payment. This is just ANOTHER STICK-IT-TO-THE HONEST PERSON.
Thanks,
Lou Ann

Are you sure you did not let your mouse drift and select " REFUND ".
thats what the letter loks like to me anyway.

The message the buyer gets depends on the reason you chose for sending the alert. I don't know off-hand what each message says, but there are definately some that would be more appropriate for this situation.

Well, either through some glitch or twitch of the mouse, your bidder got the "Transaction cancelled by mutual agreement" letter. The real "deadbeat" letter reads like this:

Congratulations on your winning bid for eBay item XXXXXX, Very Desirable Widget. Your seller, pickersangel, has informed eBay that your payment hasn't been received yet.

If you have already sent payment or intend to pay soon, please contact pickersangel at [email protected] immediately. Simple misunderstandings are often resolved through direct communication.

** Do not reply to this email. All you need to do is contact your seller.**

You and your seller are encouraged to work things out in the next 10 days. If this situation is resolved during this time, the matter is dropped and you do not need to take any further action.

If, however, your seller is still unsatisfied after this period, you may receive a Non-Paying Bidder (NPB) warning from eBay. Once you obtain three warnings on your record you will be suspended for 30 days. If you receive a fourth warning, suspension will last indefinitely.

For additional details about eBay's Non-Paying Bidder Policy go to:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/community/npb.html

Please note that eBay does not take the side of the buyer or seller -- understand that we are only trying to help you and your seller trade successfully. Remember: Your seller is under no obligation to "hold" your item since much time has already passed.

One thing about "mutual cancellations"--you should have been taken directly to the FVF request screen, as there is no 10 day waiting period between NPB and FVF, if you file for this reason. If you haven't already done so, go to the Ebay site and find the Final Value Fee Credit form and submit it for this transaction. You will get your money back, assuming that you haven't passed the limit for requesting a refund on this transaction.

Edited to move an errant ", and ask WHY WON'T UBB CODES WORK FOR ME??????

The UBB only works on a continuous line. You can't hit 'Enter' or 'Return' to start a new line.

Hello there works.

Hello
there doesn't.

You'd have to put UBB code around both lines.
Hello
There
