There are a number of users on this board who consider themselves (or at least act as) the "in" crowd.
I find this mentality abhorant. This constant condescending attitude toward those who "haven't been here long" or "have only made x amount of posts" is juvenile, at best. It reminds me of children on a playground. It's the exact same mindset.
In reality, the number of posts and/or time as a member is of no consequence--or shouldn't be, in determining whether or not someone's points are valid and noteworthy.
Ironically, if you really want to seem "with it", you would happily distance yourself from, and glady shun, the "in" crowd.
I only wish the moderators here didn't show partiality to them. It only hurts this sites integrity, as well as their own.

Actually, you're quite mistaken.
It's the "Wolf Pack" not the "in" crowd, and you have no standing which enables you to change the name.

Don't worry---the ins change into the outs and vice versa---and no one pays attention to the ins when they are in anyway.

Hi Stantman. I'm sure these posts come as no surprise to you since they exactly prove your point. Sure, it isn't much fun to have your head bitten off when you express your opinion, and it is annoying to have your post ignored and then have someone else bring up your point and get responses. You just can't take it personally.

I don't see this at all. It is probably because I am oblivious to everything except what interests me. I do see 2 or 3 or 4 "camps", kind of like political parties but they are remarkable tolerant of each other and almost always civil.
I think AW is fantastic forum. The people posting here are diverse, and overwhelmingly more helpful to each other than hurtful.
I would not change one hair on this head.

Ya know, this thread got me thinking. I read and post in a number of newsgroups and message boards. I also belong to a church, and have various involvements there.
There are always "groups" of people who seem to hang out together more than some, and always those who are involved without being really close to any one group or person.
Isn't this just typical group dynamics? Some folks are naturally more drawn to being a part of the "in" crowd, and some just don't care. Does that mean it's bad?
There are always newcomers, who wander in, and right off the bat start yelling about the "group", and how it excludes some. Well come on, any "group", if it does exist, is constantly changing, constantly evolving. People come, people go, some are more vocal, some more witty, but for the most part, it works.
Pull up a chair, ask your questions, voice your opinions, and make sure you remember to not take it all too personally.

I have been on this board for a while, mostly lurking and learning from others. When I do post a question, everyone seems to be quite considerate and understanding. I have never been 'blasted' for anything I have written (so far!) I think that most of the people here are just great.
However, that is just my opinion, I may be wrong.

I don't think there is an "In Crowd" - just a group of people who have known one another for a while. Personally, I've found this to be the most entertaining board I've found - lots of variety and lots of opinions. I enjoy the spirited responses. But then I tend to be a "wall flower" so if I'm not one of the "In Crowd" that doesn't matter...
