Thought that I would ask what is the heaviest shipment anyone has made to a buyer from an auction/email sale and how you shipped it and what your experience was with the carrier.

This is my story. In Sept. I had a buyer email me wanting to buy a large number (288) of the items I sell that are quiet heavy.

The merchandise comes packaged 12 per case for a total of 24 cases and it weighed 1,200 pounds. I shipped it using Overnite Trans. Co. http://www.overnite.com/ from Alabama to New York state.

This was a first for me. I had never used truck freight before. The merchandise was unloaded five days after it was shipped.

I saved the customer a substantial shipping cost as the company I buy wholesale from gets a 65% discount on shipping of this merchandise and they shipped it for me at their cost.

Shipping cost was $158.00 and UPS wanted $308.07 for 1,000 pounds, plus 1 1/2% sir charge for fuel.

After it arrived the buyer sent me an email stating it had cost him an additional $75.00 to have it unloaded as he didn't have a fork lift to unload it with.

Wish I had a sale like that every day, or at least once a month.
