Hi, I am new to AW and to the eBay Outlook message center. I have been reading everyones comments about their auction, bidders, sellers, paypal. How come I can not go to ebay, try a search by your user name, and find nothing.? Does anyone have the answer? Are we not suppose to be able to look up each other auctions?
Someone set me straight, Please.
Thank you for your time.

Many posters here have opted to use a different name for the AW boards than their ebay ID. Some still do use ebay ID..just depends on the poster.

Many a dissident EBay poster has been NARUed for posts on this board. Its not wise to let EBay know you disagree....

I don't use my ebay id on here becuase I am worried asbout upsetting someone on here with my opinion and they retaliate by messing with my auctions. This is the same reason I will not bid with my main id unless I am very sure of the seller. I recently accidentally bid on an auction an later retracted because I was sure the guy ws shill bidding his own auctions. All I stated in my retraction was uncomfortable with excessive negatives. Within hours of my retracting the bid, every auction I had running had a bid by this sellers shill bidding ID. He waited several hours and then retracted on them saying he didn't like my feedback. At the time I was at 360 with 1 negative. Ebay can't do anything about it but I can protect myself from anything similar happening on here by not using my real id.

I signed up with my eBay ID before I realized what the exposure could lead to. njrazd is still one of my eBay ID's, but I don't use it to buy or sell anymore. I have other accounts to do that with now.

I'm mzalez in as many places as I can be. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to keep my IDs straight--I try to K.I.S.S whenever possible. I've never had anyone 'mess' with my auctions. Thanks guys!

Same with me Mzalez, I don't have enough extra brain cells to remember more than one ID! Not only does everyone know my name is Sulyn, but they also know how OLD I am!

Of course, I am mostly a buyer, I sell when I have to thin out to make room for all the new stuff I can't live without!

If someone did want to "mess" with my auctions, they would probably save me lot's of money!!!!!

Edited 'cause my little gray cells are taxed today and I am having trouble spelling!

I like my anonymity. I don't want anyone to monkeywrench my bids, my auctions. I also have two ID's.
Even though AW is a kinder gentler board, it is still full of trolls and miscreants (No offense New Guy).
You still learn a lot here. A LOT.

As a good friend once said to me, 'you are the most worldly naive person I know'. I never thought.... There I go thinking that most people in the world are basically good.

Well they can... it's just that they won't. They're too busy trying to make more money to have time to help their sellers.

Thank you all for your response to my inquiry. I have read stories by some of you and wanted to see your auctions, but could not find you. Now I know.
I am sissyclarke on ebay, and I have no reason to hide. I would never address someone's comments directly if I disagreeded with them and that would thwart any retalations from those quick to anger. I am enjoying this hobby of mine. The place I live is a tourist town, with all of those tourist shops. I discovered ebay a few months ago and it is the perfect place to sell my treasures. Recently I discovered this message center and found it very helpful. Everyone has been real nice in giving me their opinion.
Have fun at the auction. Going once, going twice, sold.

Welcome to AW Sissyclarke! Nice to meet you.

Not anonymous.

Anonymity really came in around this time last year with an infamous lister who caused quite a ruckus and polorized the board members (and brought us the cool Bloviate word! ). After that point, people became mostly anonymous.

I think I'll go and find some dolls and some accordian music. LOLOLOL

I also use a different IDs on ebay. I'm pretty laid back in my posts here, so I don't think anyone is going to take offense at anything I say, but there is another reason. If you start a thread saying "I just bid on a wooden widget and you wouldn't believe what the seller expects...." It will take others here less than two minutes to look up your bidding history, find the auction, figure out who the seller is, and start making rude comments - at which point a moderator will show up quoting the AW-CGs and shut down the thread cause you haven't invited the seller.
If you use a different ID you can be specific in your posts and the detectives here will have a harder time figuring it out.
