I thought Id open a new topic for everybody...what do you find is selling on ebay right now? I fell back from listing for a week or so because I was on vacation and bids were sluggish anyway (I sell mostly antiques and collectibles that I have gathered over the years ) Now when I look to see how many items are listed like the ones I am thinking of listing, there are many listed... and no bids or very few bids on them. How to figure out what is selling?
How do you all do this, besides the way I just described? and what seems to be a good seller at the moment? I hate to keep racking up listing fees and not selling . What say you all out there?

Vintage sewing items. I've done well with quilting squares, darning cotton, and embroidery floss.

Also, old silver pieces. I found an old salt cellar at a garage sale for a quarter, shined it up, and sold it for $46.

Oh, this and that...

Run-of-the-mill things have never done well on ebay, except maybe in the beginning when everything was new. You need a couple of *hot* lines of merchandise, maybe three or four lines of hot merchandise.

You have to decide what those will be. Something you have good experience with.

I can tell you what NOT to deal in: Beanie Babies. I saw tons of them that sold for the opening bid of .01 cent when I looked at completed auctions. They are undoubtedly finished.

Just sold a CD for $87.

Some people have way too much money. You have to figure out what those people are looking for!

Anything collectable that has to do with 'dog breeds', gothic jewelry, name brand little kid clothes, maternity clothes...basically anything that I can pick-up cheap and resell. But then I am the executor of my Grandmother's estate and I come acrossed all kinds of goodies that fetch a fair price! (But then I have to split the money with my good-fer-nothin' brother who never paid one iota of attention to our Grandma!)

Good weeks, bad weeks.....I am a stay-at-home Mom and work out of my spare room. Most weeks average between $300 and $600...not too shabby! But then when eBay is DOWN (!!!!) no one wins!

Some guy picked it all up for $20 & walked away mumbling, "ebay, ebay, ebay..."

Went to an auction last weekend and bought a motion lamp shade. Thought about buying the parts on ebay, to put it together to make it whole. Then decided what the heck just put the shade on and maybe I'll get the starting bid of 9.99. Its sitting at 31.00 right now with 8 days to go. I really thought I would have to relist in 10 days. Go figure. What does this tell you about what sells? I have no clue what sells and what doesn't.

I am simply amazed how well furniture sells on Ebay. I couldn't give it away at garage sales but put it on Ebay and people from your area bid (I was careful to say I wouldn't ship they had to come and get it)Of course I live in a large city. I guess that helps. But furniture is a hot seller - who'd have guessed?

I sell in so many different catagories it's hit and miss. It's what ever someone else wants when I have it up. I sold a video for $76.00 last week and a post card for $3.99.

I've been ill for the last couple of weeks so only have a few videos listed. They're easy because I don't have to add any pictures. They're doing good though.

Things are slow on eBay for most of the people that I know. I have talked to art gallery owners in several states and things are unusually slow for them also. I own a store that is part of a national franchise and everything I hear blames 'the election' and wondering what the economy is going to be like. I say let's vote and get the show on the road.
