One problem with complaining directly to ebay is that they have no real motivation to service the sellers (we're are at the bottom of the food chain to ebay). I've noticed when I've complained to ebay via a third party (such as the California Attorney General's Office) I get a lot more attention.
I would like to suggest that my fellow sellers consider these options when complaining directly to ebay:
1) If you really think you're getting cheated by the outages, file a compliant with your states AG (They are talk about the poor bidders, about time your state AG look out for the sellers).
2) Consider cc'ing: your email to the media (such as ZDNET or CNET.
3) Use a gripe service that will keep a copy of your letter in a public searchable database (w/ key personal info edited out of course).
We all know that Ebay's Management only cares about one special group of customers... the customers who buy ebay stock. This is not a market that will tolerate bad news
Say eoi, I've been trying to find a long messagethread about the Disney requirement for cc clearance BEFORE bidding, which is COUPLED with the payment TOS, which states that only checks are accepted.
So, in order to bid on Disney Auctions, one MUST file a cc.
In order to pay for an auction, one MUST pay ONLY with a check.
I seriously do NOT have the background or education to understand these requirements, and I am very concerned.
Not cuz I wanna bid on Mouse stuff, lol.
No, it is this......
Can ANYONE please tell me what it is that is so UNSAFE about electronic checks?
Here, I'd been given the distinct impression that they were 100% guaranteed & SAFE.
This obviously is NOT true.
And because I am ignorant and gullible, I have been misled.
I do understand why Disney won't accept either money orders, nor credit card payments -- as I've read about the same precise thing in the book world.
But, now, see, I seriously realize that ELECTONIC CHECKS, which were touted to be SAFE, that they obviously are NOT safe!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am really sick and tired of having my stupidity shoved in my face and rubbed in again and again and again.
I waited over 22 months for e-checks by Billpoint, gawd is that embarressing, NO kidding.
Please, eoi or anyone else, PLEEEZ explain to Dumbi™ why e-checks are absolutely NOT a safe form of money transfer cuz otherwise Dumbo would accept them as payment.

That is not really my field of expertise, but I believe there is a California law that makes its illegal to require a person to provide a credit number in order for them to write a check. So Disney and Ebay would be in violation of this if you want to stretch a point.
Of course I always interprete things to the advantage of the consumer.

eoi: that would be VERY funny if that is true about it being ILLEGAL in California.
I really want to know WHY electronic checks are UN-SAFE as I now know that they indubitably are, or else those TOS & Payment Terms would not have been SO carefully crafted.

Incidentally, if you think sellers are at the bottom of the foodchain, you should a look some time at the Trust & Safety remarq board on eBay. The posters claim to be buyers who need to protect other buyers. I've even read stuff like the ONLY way to not be shilled at eBay is to NOT BID. I mean, these postes HATE sellers, if ya ask me, which ya didn't, so nevermind. That board is really Out.There.
