OK. Here is just what we wanted: “Headroom”!

Now we know what we are investing our listing fees and Final Value Fees in:

We will continue to fine-tune the system for optimal performance with Oracle 8. It's difficult to predict, but we expect this transition to be completed in about 7 to 10 days during which there may be periods of certain feature unavailability. Our goal is to make these improvements in advance of the holiday season.

OH BOY!

Check out the FULL announcement on the AB.

What a CROCK! If I wanted headroom I would have bought a Landcruiser NOT a LISTING! SHEESH.

They should rename EBAY : SPIN CITY.

Every department gets to put a spin on the latest fiasco(s).

"It is extremely distressing for everyone at eBay to have to report any problems with the site to you. These measures will keep us from falling behind in headroom and move us toward building an eBay for the future."

Sounds to me as if eBay is more distressted about falling behind in headroom than the impact of ebay taking down "certain functions" on sellers and buyers.

Would be nice too if they gave everyone some warning when they are going to "disable certain functions".

HOW VERY KIND of Ebay to wait until the stock market gathered steam from the earnings announcements to announce to US this problem. Well, they say facing your problem is supposed to be a step towards healing it.
What a pile of poop...

Well, I guess it is fine-tuned to oblivion tonight. Again, it is down - all functions. aaaarrrgghhh. It seems to wait until I have auctions that are ending and then it goes down. (probably everyone is saying that). I hope Oracle does a better job when it's used for command and control for the armed forces. too scary to think about.

This is really sad.

I held off listing most of the summer because things were so slow. I would do a series of “test” auctions over the past several months and decided to plunge back in only within the past several weeks. While things were not GREAT, I felt that I was seeing some improvement and the percentage of completed auctions was rising, so I built up to 100+ listings running at all times.. Then all the “hiccups” and outages started, and now this.

It seems like there is not much point in this for individual sellers. Maybe that is what eBay wants...
