There is a big post on the announcements board as to why things may not work....

And to demontrate what they mean, a lot of "functionalities" have been shut down!

Vinnie

P.S. when will they learn that the proper word is "functions"?
Oh, maybe when they learn how to keep a site up...

Hi doninpa,

Yes ebay is down here in western PA as well. I just listed 50 items on yahoo, and they are running smooth.

Down here in Saskatchewan/CANADA, too. I am soooooooo mad! I can not get into my auction doesn't matter which angle I try. So how can the bidders? I got a whole bunch of auctions ending NOW and after a really bad couple of weeks (wonder why, with E-bay constantly down)I finally got some bids ( the only activity that my auctions have seen were myself looking at them); that just figures. How do I request refunds?

I just read their anouncement on the annoucement board. I feel so much better now. They acknowledge that they know Sunday is an extremely high traffic time and their changes are messing that up. It's so nice to know they are aware of and acknowledge that they are screwing us, their customers.

One of the quotes from the tech letter says they are doing this in advance of the Holiday Season...we are already in the Holiday Season. I am a Newbie but I cannot believe all this right here at Christmas.

Isn't it ironic? You can buy all you want, but just try to sell these days. Read the announcement board, I guess extending the auctions is out of the question. . ."Some of you have written to us asking us to extend auctions during these periods of feature unavailability. In order to retrieve and change the information in the database, we would have to completely shut down the entire system for at least 30 minutes."
Like 30 minutes matters after all the time it's already been down collectively. And I though I had problems with AOL .

Take heart, dear folks. I'm in Ohio and I've had no trouble with eBay all night. I haven't tried to list any auctions, but I've not had any trouble viewing everyone elses.

Yahoo is up and running. just listed 25 items with NO listing fees and I "importanted" my ebay rating to give me yahoo credits toward auctoin features such as highlighting, featured auctions etc. I am getting more page hits there than i was on ebay.
