Exactly how does one go about requesting credit if you're auctions end during an unscheduled down time, and is it a request for credit on fvf's and/or listing fees? In otherwords, what will ebay give you credit on?

I've never dealt with this issue before but because I had a bunch of auctions that ended just a short time ago and because of all of the down times just this week, I feel that my auctions were hurt because of ebay's downtime.

Good luck! unless people couldn't bid at all or the outage lasted I think over 2 hours, they won't be refunding much. I've been checking my sellers list on the UK servers, and have seen new bids. So they must be able to still search on the items and still place bids.

I do agree with you that this still hurts your bids.. I have a number of repeat customers, they can't reach me by sellers search which is how they come back to buy from me again..

eBay's current policy seems to be that if you can get your auction listed, you got your money's worth.

I sell alot of collectibles, most of them one of a kind items. It's not like I can just go to a supplier and obtain an exact replacement to list and sell and chalk up the loss from ebay's downtime to just one of those things that happens when sellers with computers and a big talking auction venue come together to do business with each other.

It really peeves me because I spend alot of time and money just finding suitable items to auction. Then ebay goes and has outages all during the week of my auctions and buyers and snippers cant get to my auctions to bid and then i'm lucky if I break even on my items. With some of my auctions I actually lost money.

Welcome to the eBay 'Happy Camper's Club!

(Actually, I do feel sorry for you and other sellers who find themselves in the same boat. However, this is now becoming old hat at eBay and I find it easier to laugh, than cry, about what is going on there.)

Enough said!

Hello yellowstone. This is the URL to request credit: http://pages.ebay.com//help/basics/select-support.html Once there, choose BILLING from the drop down box and that will take you to the correct page. Be sure to list the auction numbers that you feel were negatively impacted along with the specific fees that were paid and put GIVE CREDIT in the subject line. If they deny you the credit just send the request again until you reach someone who will give you the right answer. BE PERSISTENT!!

When is everyone going to realize that ebay manipulates its so called outages and calls them "unscheduled maintenance" only to avoid fee refunds?? Why is it they are ALWAYS under control UNDER 2 hours??? How is that possible??? Until EVERY seller emails them with this complaint they will get away without ever refunding a dime!

Thanks bhearsch for the link, i'll give it a try, however, I do know that I should'nt expect any sort of a possitive response after reading some of the threads here at AW that deal with the same or similar subjects.

AnnieJean Me thinks that the boat is taking on water fast and is about to be sunk.

I'll say it myself, even knowing that others have said it numerous times before, but the point of saying it again is in the hope that someone at ebay reads these messages and that possibly our voices will be heard and something possitive will come out of voicing our opinions. When a seller has auctions ending during an unscheduled downtime, ebay should then extend the sellers auctions equivalant in time to the downtime to make up for the lost time so that the last minute bidders and snippers can bid on and win our items and so that we as sellers can make and get the most out of using and posting at ebay
