That is to bad it was a great concept but most of the stuff in the magazine was fluff. They could and should have done a better job. Save you Ebay magazines they will be collectors items some day <LOL> ; )

"eBay spokesman Kevin Pursglove did not respond to a phone call by press time"

He is probably too busy working with the new Oracle 8i, "baking in" some more "headroom" for us to enjoy, particularly on "Sunday evenings".

The Top Ten Reasons Ebay Magazine Will Be Missed By All

#10 - It was the perfect size to use as a liner for the litter box.

#9 - More pictures of Meg to hang on my wall

#8 - Something to read while Ebay is down.

#7 - Something to read while Ebay is down.

#6 - Something to read while Ebay is down. (wow, they need to print this thing daily)

#5 - Free Subscription / Something for Nothing. (or should that be nothing for nothing)

#4 - .....

Sounds like I am the only one that actually bought a copy at the newstand. HMm I never had a desire to buy another.

If many sellers are right, the typical bidder can't read and understand a TOS much less a magazine

I must be a geek. I bought the issues when they came out. I didnt have a subscription but bought them at my local grocery store while picking up some bread and milk

I thought the magazine had some interesting segments. However, other things you could easily find in other computer magazines. Does Yahoo still publish? I used to buy that magazine too but haven't in quite some time.

Oh well. I guess I can sell what issues I have down the road. Maybe there will be a market for them.

No, you're not alone. I bought one too but quickly realized that it was pretty much worthless. I learn more on this board in one hour than I could ever learn by reading a stack of eBay mags...

That might explain why I saw the Krause's applying to sell their Ebay stock a while back.
Some brain dead person tried to tell me Krause and Ebay were not in bed together.
This clears THAT up!!!
Boo Hoo.
NO I ASK YOU... Where else can you do a piss poor job and get rich at the same time???

Good riddence to another bad idea.

I got the magazine FREE through the mail, I flipped through the first couple of copies, thought it a bore, and just more eBay propaganda, and from that point on, it went from my PO box to the PO garbage can, I didn't even bring the thing home.

I don't have time to read a magazine full of bull - and bull is about all I've heard out of eBay for 3 years.

ONCE UPON A TIME, when I started with eBay in the dark ages things were different, but that was long, long, long ago!

Now I'm a major Yahoo seller......I got tired of the eBay abuse of sellers.

Kiki,

You are not alone I bought every issue too. I liked the Power Seller Profiles and the Weird things found at Auctions. My mom always said "boy that kid likes to read she'll read ANYTHING!" LOL

Well..you could feel about as stupid as I do. I shelled out the original 14.99 charter subscription rate back when they first started. I kept the first issue as a reminder of my stupidity. I'm going to sell it on ebay now.

I was really elated to find out that quite a few, if not most I heard from, were getting free issues sent to them and that really did me in. Not to mention the fact that it was hit and miss when I actually got the magazine. I pay - have problems. Other's don't pay - get more copies than they want each month, etc.

A couple of months ago, I got a spam email from Krauss asking me to renew and I sent them a pretty long email telling them why I WOULD NOT be renewing.

The whole scenario was a lesson in how NOT to run a business and personally, I'm glad they failed. I should have charge-backed my subscription fee.

BTW, for those that liked the format of ebay magazine doesn't Yahoo's magazine publish about the same content or did they fold too?
I think the only thing you would be missing is the PowerSeller section.

I have not purchased Yahoo's magazine but then I don't list auctions on Yahoo either. I did for a while but never sold anything.
I will go out and look for Yahoo's mag.
From my standpoint Ebay could have kept their magazine running just changed it a bit.
I think maybe it wasn't bad sales but internal drama that killed the magazine.
BTW we get about 15 magazines a month. How well do Magazines do on Ebay anyway?

SO...let's do a little head count.

1.)
Great Collections...poor lackluster sales from day one.
3.)
Butterfields..cut backs and office closings.
2.)
Ebay Magazine in the dumpster.

Now with the money they will save they can buy a fancy computer.

Angel -

Yahoo's magazine primarily just covers internet issues/tidbits - I don't remember it going in to too many - if any auction related things.

For awhile there ebay magazine was looking a lot like Yahoo's magazine - primarily advertisements for other internet services, tips and tricks for getting around the internet etc. They both are akin to a People magazine only for new internet users - lots of fluff - no hard-hitting articles.

I thought I read that Yahoo's magazine was folding up too. I just don't think newstand magazines regarding the internet can keep up with daily postings on message boards/forums etc.

Not surprised at all. I can't imagine what sort of moronic marketer would think that people who spend all their time on line want a hard copy magazine to clutter up their house. I actually stopped giving money to places like the Smithsonian and the Library of Congress because they insisted on sending me magazines I didn't have time to read. Why not save the cost of printing the stupid magazines and put the money towards something important instead, like technical improvements to eBay so the seller search works more than once every ten tries.

I'm just wondering if I should keep the collection intact or cut the magazines up for the ads.

I enjoyed reading how the power sellers got started but that's about it. I suppose I'm SOL for getting half my money back since I only received about every other issue I was supposed to get! I heard this complaint from a lot of other people on here too. If they could have solved that problem they might have had more of a chance.
