Adrian: Don't you dare even think about leaving AW! You are a Brit aren't you? Stiff upper lip and all that. C'mon now!!!! And since you had the other thread locked I am going to post this here. Read it quick before this thread gets locked, too!

We love your posts and unfortunately, we also love to pick on you! Mea culpa, too!

And Powerhouse almost apologized so "Do be a sport old chappie!" (It's a good thing Powerhouse made a nice reply to you or else I would have put him/her on my joke mailing list

The TIAS is not a pathetic joke. It is a wonderful site that has been a class act since it's early days on the net. (Ditto for Ruby Lane and other sites with similar offerings.) I was in touch with Ralph Goddard, one of the early founders, way back in 1996 and found him to be most helpful and cooperative to deal with, and things have just gotten better since then. Some of the dealers may have overpriced items, but most know the current "buy prices" of their listings and are willing to deal with serious buyers.

Adrian: If you have a lonely website wandering around out there in cyberspace I think you would do very well to come under the umbrella of a site such as TIAS. There are also other opportunities that come along with this type of site not found when you are completely on your own. Also, they have a direct link to sellers eBay listings which is as good as, if not better than having your own personal gallery listings on eBay.

Lots to think about!

Adrian: I must say that I enjoy your posts, especially since we very often think alike. I have been so busy lately that I have not had time to keep up with the ongoing drama that is AuctionWatch.

However, I too have made my blunders, received my criticisms (deserved or otherwise) and chalked it all up to the fantasy that is CyberSpace. That is something that too often we all forget. I do not know what sparked your desire to run away, but I think that it is a shame. You will be missed.

Adrian - Just wanted to voice my opinion that you are one of the posters I most enjoy reading, and I sure hope you will reconsider leaving AW. You have offered much insight to a lot of us, acted as a super example of what a seller can accomplish when one gives their all, and I want thank you.

I know you must be very stressed with your sales being down. I understand that you are looking for other alternatives on which to try and continue making a living for your family, without getting an 'outside' job.

Please understand that most of us realize when one is doing this for a living, more is involved than when selling to supplement our income or just for the fun of it.

You are facing a lot of pressure right now, understandably. Please don't let the words of someone who's not in your shoes, drive you away from AW.

Take a break, have a drink (if you drink), take a deep breath and try to realize others are only sharing their experiences.

Long (as usual) but typed and meant from the heart.

You see Adrian, you get picked on even in a thread where we're trying to be nice to you! It wouldn't be the good olde eBay Outlook forum if someone didn't bite someone else's ankle. Yours are particulary yummy it seems.

I'd hate to say you leave here old boy! The place will go belly up in less than a week, without you!

My Irish family background does not make encouraging Brits to stay anywhere but in England my usual opinion.

I'm even a little surprised at myself that I would be disappointed if Adrian and and the significant contributions he makes to this board were lost.

All of that aside, plain and simple, "Don't go".

Adrian: I would be deeply sadden if you quit AW. I am relatively new here and to this type of forum in general. I can say that your writings have alway been responsible and basically level headed. I am afraid I see too much hostility and venom that is written here too often. I do not understand why many people can't view this as an intellectual discussion and not take or make this personal.

This forum greatly needs more people like you. It would be a shame to let the small angry minds run you off. Please reconsider.
Your input is very valuable.

I have already told you how I feel in another thread but I wanted to also mention how much I enjoy working on puzzles and in particular, how much I enjoyed working on your puzzles. If you leave, I don't know how I will fill my sleepless nights without your little "research projects".

Please admit that you were being a bit testy and just come back!!

I won't miss Adrian at all.

When imabrit does post here he brags about grossing $250,000 and making $70,000 profits each year. He even posted a thread titled "How much do you make on ebay?", just so he could validate how much he earns.

imabrit also denegrates other posters, calling their statments "stupid" and other insulting remarks.

The only thing I will miss is his poor grammar, long run-on sentences and dismal punctuation.

People who can't spell look kind of silly complaining about someone else's grammar.

Besides, it's bizzare to think that anyone would judge's someone else's business acumen by their ability to spell. I will miss Adrian if he decides not to return because his posts had value to me. I learned about the business of eBay from them.

Blanche: Irony Police, if you please. As you've probably noticed, I never have look far to find ironies here on AW. I like to to point out the the ironies - others focus on faulty punctuation.

Irene, the AW Ironies Police Task Force (AWIPTF) could be a sub group of the AW Verified Opinions Police Task Force (AWVOPTF) as well as the AW Poor Analogy Police Task Force (AWPAPTF). I think the AW Verified Spell Checker Police Task force (AWVSCPTF) should have it's own heading because we'll need sub groups of grammar and punctuation as well.. These groups are much needed and we really should get started with the candidate nominations. So much to do and sooo little time.

macandjan, the funniest experience I had with my Spell Checker happened when I was writing my opinion of PayPal for another board. (NOT a positive opinion) The Spell Checker did not recognize the word "PAYPAL" and so it threw it out and offered the word "PAYOLA" for a substitute. I almost wet my pants because I was laughing so hard since that was basically the theme of my PayPal opinion. You just can't fool the Spell Checker!!

Your comment is one of the reason's why I am no longer posting here. You totally misunderstand the reason for
my posts. It is not too brag it is gather information about other sellers.I have no support group or people to talk
too that can relate to this business other than those who post here.

The only way I can find out who those people are is by asking.I want to find if there are others who truly do this
full time as an only income source etc. etc.

With that information I can find out if they experience similar problems and experiences as I do and if so
how they handle them.A small seller does not do enough business to see such problems, fix's etc.
that a large seller does.

Also there is much negativity on this board such as your comments, and I like to point out that you
can make a living at it and it can be done.So it's not all negative.

The thread you mentioned was posted a very long time ago long before you even started posting here
I think on this site.I have posted here for well over a year maybe 2 not a measly few months.

When I referred to something as being stupid I was not calling the person stupid but the statement they made.
I do get offended that people are judged by how good or bad their credit is.That if there credit is bad then they
cannot get a license and therefore may not be able to sell on ebaY.What utter garbage I thought this was a
free country. But instead people start judging you by what you are worth financially not what you are worth
as a person.

There are a lot more things to get offended by than the word stupid,if thats all I get called then I am doing
well.

I have tried to be positive and help people where I can with the more than 400 posts I have left here.

If I can help another seller I will, but I will also stick up for a seller who I think is being picked on
and do not appreciate the elitist attitude of some here.

I wish I did make 70,000 as you imply I used to think that was possible but not anymore.

Okay so my spelling is not the greatest and neither is my grammar,I guess that makes me
a second class citizen.Yes these are important but not as much as the person themselves.

I have some lousy spellers as friends and some with terrible credit due to no fault of their
own that I would not give up as a friends for all the money on the planet.

You know nothing of me as a person yet I feel a lot of hostility from you and others.

For a person who has never smoked, done drugs, gotten drunk,do not believe in sex
before marriage, never swear or violent.A good moral Christian I am really the kind
of person you want as a neighbour. But I guess that does not matter as long as I
can spell, have great credit and live in an expensive home, drive nice cars thats really
what matters.

So I am done with it,I can live without the hostility here but will miss some
of you who post here and wish you including
raygomez all the best in your ebaY and wherever else endeavours.

Adrian, this thread contains 19 positive and kind responses in your regard versus ONE negative remark - OK two negative remarks but one was rescinded. I KNOW if I left I wouldn't have nearly this ratio so I think you're exaggerating the situation. Most of us would like you to continue to post here and that should be good enough. I hope you will get a good night's sleep and come back tomorrow with a change of heart.

Thanks I agree with what you are saying and do appreciate what other's have said here and I thank you all.

But I am getting fed up with the negativity and having people say they hate me.Why would someone hate someone they have no idea who they are.

For all they know I could be a dog that has learn't how to type and talk.Plus use the toilet and not forgetting to put the seat down.

I do not feel this is a safe place to post anymore and for this and personal reason's and possibly for the safety of my family I think it is best to stay well away from here.

That will not be easy for me to do and I may change my mind.
I know of others who no longer post here for similar reasons as well.

Adrian
