I was interested in an item. Reading TOS, I found that Seller wants payment to arrive no later than 10 days after close of auction, or will be turned in to Safe Harbor....However, s/he ships only on Friday or Saturday following receipt of funds, and states that bidder must expect to receive item in 21 to 28 days. I wrote to check is this applied also to Money Orders...Ignoring my mail..

Am I perhaps not reading this right? Make your Voice Of Reason nice and loud, please...

Hmm.. I would ask him how he is shipping that takes 21 to 28 days to deliver? By Camel?

Shosh~~ Does the seller state shipping method?

If book rate or parcel post, perhaps this is normal?

If payment is received on Saturday, then shipment doesn't go out until Friday........already 6 days into the 21.
Then allow 14 more days for arrival. Doesn't sound all that unreasonable.

Or, maybe seller doesn't want anyone to contact them before they can trace......you have to wait 30 days before a trace, no?

What kind of feedback does this guy have? I can't imagine my bidders tolerating waiting 28 days to receive their items. I wouldn't tolerate it either.

Wouldn't get my bid unless the deal was exceptional becasue the service is stinko.

I ship bookrate Monday thru Friday w. no check clearance and most of my bidders have their stuff in about five days. If I have a PayPal payment at 5:30AM on one of those days, the package is at the post office 7AM.

When you get up from winter hibernation, the package will be waiting for you.

Ever see that Talespin Cartoon where Baloo (sp?) only had 3 cents, and could only afford 17th class postage after he ate nearly $19.97 worth of food from the $20.00 that miss Rebecca told him to use for the letter?

Guess this guys stuck in a Disney Cartoon.

Where are they located...may be coming from Canada which does seem to take time sometimes.

It may be they are counting turn around time from end of auction (10 days for payment to be recieved, up to seven days before shipping depending on when in the week payment recieved, 4-11 days for package to get to you).

Could be they are starting to take into account that we are entering the holiday mail period, which can delay the mail considerably.

But no matter what the reason is, the seller is being up front with it so as a buyer your guestion should be "am I willing to wait the three to four weeks to recieve my item". You might want to email them and ask if the 21-28 days starts at the end of the auction or at the time they recieve payment. If it starts at the time they recieve payment, it just sounds like they are estimating reciept of package based on the worse possible scenario.

I always presume - unless it's clearly a used or old item - that if the auction says "21 to 28 days" or "up to 3 weeks" or something like that, that it's going to be drop-shipped: I'm gonna send the money to the seller, the seller is gonna send the money along to the company, and the company is gonna ship it direct to me.

I hate that.

Well, this is an Antique; so I am assuming it is not drop-ship. And they are back East, not out of country.
I think it is just a case of Seller names the rule, and you play or you dont... and I won't...

Thanks everyone, for putting onm your thinking caps...

Weather permitting, I will be shopping at an outside Antiques Show this Sunday...and I will have my stuff right there and then...

As a Seller, I bend over backwards to ship the moment funds arrive, so it is hard for me to understand the attitude. They refer to people who do not pay promptly as Bored Buyers, only there to aggravate them... Oh! Well....

New additions to my "canned email response" library:

1) "When I'm good and ready!"
2) "When I FEEL like it!"
3) "Let me check my almanac. Is that a blue moon?"

When I lived in rural Ohio, the local post office told us that "3 weeks" was not considered an unusual amount of time for non priority parcels to be delivered.

That said, this seller still looks like trouble.
