Hi Islander and everyone. Here is the URL for the Javascript programs you can get. There is some WONDERFUL stuff here, including the "No Right Click" Program for those of you who want to protect your photos from being copied...Check out their library....

No problem, here's the link that addressed it a few weeks back.

Reddeer: While I think it's probably a good idea to disallow javascript in auction descriptions, I don't believe it's documented anywhere on eBay. There is text specifically prohibiting javascript from the message boards, and text specifically prohibiting javascript from feedback - but I don't think there's anything about auction descriptions.

Glenda ...... You'll have to take it up with Katy, she sent me this info a couple weeks back.
the java-script prohibition is interpreted to fall within the exclusions in the User Agreement under 6.1
(g)
"...Your Information (or any items listed therein): (g) shall not contain any ..."other computer programming routines that are intended to damage, detrimentally interfere with, surreptitiously intercept or expropriate any system, data or personal information;.."

I think someone mentioned in another thread during a rant against Andale that their ads use javascript and eBay has a relationship with them. I would also suspect that some other 3rd party auction services use it as well (HumanClick for example). I doubt that its banned in ads, which imo is the way it should be, ad design decisions should be left to the seller. Harmful javascript could be reported, also if it was banned eBay could easily disable it the same way Yahoo! disables some HTML tags.

I think it's only banned, when eBay decides it is. Like most other things on their site.

WOW, am I getting an education on this!!!! I feel really stupid here..... I , naively, thought this javascript was just a great way to add some pretties etc and had no idea that it had a sinister side. You can bet I am going to do some research on this javascript stuff and see just what its all about.....Another reason why I LOVE this AW board...I have learned sooooo much.....

bemused, thank you for that! It's been driving me nuts why some of my HTML doesn't work on there.
