I just hit 250 in my feedback, and I think I should get a new color star! At my rate, it'll take me another year to get to 500.

Don't feel bad, I just sat at 499 for 5 days last week, when I hit 500 all of the sudden everyone wanted to leave me feedback. Actually, I feel sorry for those with feedback between 1000 and 9999, that is a lot to work towards to get another star, there should be more stars between those numbers. Heatehr

250 is great! Congratulations! I thought I'd never get to the purple one, but it's going to take even longer it seems to get the red one.
Oh well. On the bright side, if you've got 250 good feedbacks, you're in business. That's enough for people to see you've been good. You'll get there.
posted on November 2, 2000 11:43:07 AM new Congratulations. I finally got my purple star yesterday. Funny how it's those little things that really perk you up, isn't it? It does give you a feeling of accomplishment though. Keep up the good work, and you'll have that purple soon. I do agree though with others. They really should have another star part way up the ladder for after the 1000 mark.

I totally agree with the "void". I am currently a few from 3,000, received the red (1,000) about 2 years ago. Averaging about 1,000 a year, I will get my new star in 2007. I would definitely feel better if something were available in between, like instead of 1 big red star, 3 little reds when I get to 3,000 and so on. That shouldn't be to hard to do.

Everyone who wants a prettier star in the "void" should feel free to award themselves same.
Just do me a favor and don't distract ebay with this issue. Lets keep them focused on actually keeping their site running.
I apologize if I seem unsympathetic, but the last time ebay revised their star system, it consumed a lot of their energy and focus to argue about something that has little, if anything, to do with their (and our) success.
Of course, I think the whole star system is silly at best, and misleading at worst. I'd rather deal with a "red star" with 200 perfect positives than a "purple star" with 10% negatives.

I find it interesting that everyone was upset about swastikas a while back but nobody seems to mind a red star. Guess it never made the gut level reaction as a symbol. How about a PINK with a red star?

A couple of fictitious announcements from eBay.
We are pleased to announce the creation of a new seller level with the new green star at 250 feedbacks, this will go into effect today at 18:55 PST.
The eBay search, sell, bid, and feedback features were unavailable from 18:56 PST to 20:55 PST. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Congratulations on the 250th feedback... but don't make waves.

LOL uaru, that was great! It took me a minute to get the whole idea behind your post...eBay goes down 1 minute after they implement the new star, AND OF COURSE...they're only down 1 hour and 59 minutes ROTF!

well, I have heard people say "they had a lot of positive feedback, so I trust them", so I think the number of FBs can be important.
I have yet to ever hear a single buyer say "they have a red star, they must be ok".
Given all the useful information ebay could choose to show, having redundent information is really a shame (showing BOTH the total feedback AND a star). I'd rather they get rid of the star and use the extra "space" to show, for example, the number of positive/number of negative feedback instead - its more important to know that than to have a colored star.

I feel like they make it more of a chore to reach a star. I have done about 900 transactions on eBay and some Yahoo and I still do not have my purple star. A lot of folks don't leave feedback and you never get more credit for repeat business.

Is it just me, or do some of us need to get out more? Or maybe we just didn't get the attention we needed in grade school with the charts and the accompanying gold stars.
