That's because you re-listed the item, that a standard policy. You should read up on the fees. Have a nice night.

Fonze - actually there have been many reports of this happening. This is on NEW not relisted auctions, and is a glitch - just one more in all the others as ebaY does its reachitecturing - Rosalinda

Cool, free listings from goto and the money back from eBay if it sells. Sorry, I didn't know they were not re-listed until I saw a similar thread. Thanks for the info.

Hey that would be great but I smell something funny. Lets face it Ebay is great I love ebay but they are not generous, they are cheap. That would really cut into the profit line BIG time. Stock holders wouldn't like that.

this a joke ? Maybe they think it is april fools day . . .

I had 5 out of 6 posted that said fee refunded if sold. My sister had all 10 of hers show up that way.

So, let's brace ourselves for fee increases, to make up for ebaY's mess-up....

Out of the twenty or so listings that I put up with goto's post-o-rama day, around half of them got the refund message.

Something interesting: If you go to your account details page, these items have "Relisting: default" in their entry.

Definately a HUGE glitch for eBay... I'm going to be demanding my refunds if they don't give them, just to be low and cheap against those who are low and cheap against us.

While a stable and glich free site would be preferred, it is nice to finally see a problems that impacts eBays bottom line and does not fall mainly on the sellers.

It appears they are coding some of the new listings as relists and offering the standard refund if the item sells.

Will be interesting to see if they attempt to sort out which is which and correct invoicing or just accept the loss.

Since it has been happening for several days and includes much of the GoTo free listing volume I would expect the total dollar impact will be substancial.

Considering the many millions of dollars sellers have lost in lower final prices and man/woman hours wasted in corrective efforts following eBay site problems, I am having difficulty developing any sympathy.

It's probable too much to hope for but maybe, just maybe this will make some eBay top management realize that fixing the constant problems needs more resources and solutions and not just more promises.

Nothing like walking in someone elses shoes (in this case the shoes of their customers who have had to absorbe repeated losses due to site problems)to gain a better insight into just how serious a problem is to endure.

While our individual losses may seem trival to management, if they drop a million here and a million there it could in time add up to enough money that the problems get their focused attention and not just a PR smooth over.

Then again this might be nothing more than a subtle effort to regain some of the considerable listing volume eBay is losing to the totally free listings available at YAHOO.

Friends of mine claim that when they list items the digits were nine like 123456789, but sometimes then they get the item number its ten digits like 1000000000. What will happen when a seller in the future gets the same number? ebay must have extreme trouble in their system.

What is the current Yahoo listing per month? Last time I think it was closing in on ebay.

I have not seen numbers change in the listing process. I have started to get ten diget numbers in certain categories like Sports.

I believe it results from eBay dividing the data base by category among different severs and alloting a block of new ten diget numbers to that category.

If my assumption is correct we will continue to get both 9 and 10 diget number and they will be sequencial only with regards to the data base they have been assigned to.

I don't know what the YAHOO present totals are. I have seen approx. 4 million as a reported number. I am a BIG advocate of sellers branching out and using other site but in all fairness I don't think the YAHOO/eBay listing comparison is of its self a valid number.

A million listings at eBay will result in approx. 500,000 sales within a week. A million listings at YAHOO may only have a 5% to 10% sales percentage within the same period. I also have no numbers on the average final price for identical product between the two sites.

Because YAHOO is free of all but optional feature fees I list items that have not sold after an eBay listing, items I have in duplicate and items that eBay closed auction search does not indicate have demand. I have approx. 90 listings and am averaging 10% sell thru each week, using 1st Bid and often having buyers purchase 2 to 6 items.

The rapid growth of YAHOO from less than 1.7 million listings earlier this year is what impressives me. Even with 60% or more of the listing totals of eBay I expect their dollar sales volume weekly is less than 10% of eBay.

Some might say I'm easily pleased by anything that provides sellers some additional options, even if they are presently limited, other than eBay. They would be correct.

I had that happen 3 or 4 days ago on a new item I listed. Since it was only a .25 listing fee, naturally I didn't get too excited but I did look twice when I got the listing confirmation e-mail. Wondered whether I could hold them to it.

This has also been happening to me on more than 1/2 my auctions. And it started before Nov. 1st. And it happens whether I launch from goto or AW. I'm not going to complain!!

I have gotten the same "will be refunded if sold" BUT the insertion fee credit is not actually applied at the end of auction and does not show up in eBays invoices.

If you check out the ebay announcement board, they have been having problems with their end of auction messages, some of them have been coming out blank.

Maybe this is another version of what happened.
