Okay I am the one on these boards who opened up my soul and told you all tha...I have got a real fear of negative feedback. I am really honest I have over 1100 postive feedbacks and 4 negatives from a long time ago from people who didn't pay ect or didn't know how to scroll down and read answers on emails. All unjustified b.s. But when I did get the couple my whole day was ruined. I take it so personally. When Ebay wouldn't remove it even when the buyer wanted to change their mistake on the feedback once they told me to always wait until my transactions are over and the customer states his satisfaction and then leave feedback. Most times I leave feedback first all the time anyway right after I get paid, but sometimes catch up after feedback is left for me. Well I got a bid on some new books and the person who won the auction has only 2 feedbacks emailed me saying they were paying by paypal and would appreciate feedback. So then I got another email asking again before I got payment and then I got their payment through paypal. I wrote and thanked them for their payment and told them their item would go right out. Then another email asking to please take a moment to leave feedback. The auction went for more than I expected on these two books and I just have this really weird feeling about their finsistance on instant feedback. I wrote back and told them please be assured I leave prompt feedback when the transaction is complete and will leave them glorious feedback due to their prompt payment. Why do I feel like there is something wrong here??? I know this person is going to write back and insist again and feel that it is some sort of set up (one of my negative feedbacks before was when someone didn't read my ad description and didn't even ask for a refund when I offer full with postage returned set me up this way before, asked for feedback and then neg'd me for a doll "In played with Condition" not being mint. What would you all do at this point. Just give the feedback and let the chips fall. I would give positive anyway but I just get this feeling this person is playing with me because of the amount they bid on this item and them only having 2 feedbacks. I REALLY don't want a Negative. My item is brand new but these emails are really weirdly worded and too many. And they could reverse their payment too right?

It could be that this person has been burned before when they paid for something that didn't get shipped.

It also appears that your buyer is a newbie who is trying to build their feedback and is loathe to tell you the real reason that they are so insistent about getting the feedback right away.

You can either give the feedback as you usually do in the timeframe that you usually use, or you can write and explain to them that you usually wait to give feedback after the customer has received the package and is happy with the item.

It really just sounds like a newbie who is a bit excited and everything will probably be just fine.

If you are still worried, you could also contact the two other sellers who left feedback for the person and ask how their experience was with this buyer. That might make you feel better as well.

He probably discovered a few days ago that he needs a minimum of 10 feedbacks to sell in dutch auction format, so he's anxious for everybody to leave him feedback.

IMHO, the main reason sellers insist on waiting till after the buyer leaves feedback is so they can leave a retaliatory neg of their own if they get one.

I don't think anyone should assume why certain sellers leave feedback before or after they receive it. I know sellers who leave feedback immediately, and I know some who wait until they know the buyer received the item. I know some who used to leave feedback right away and then stopped due to customers trying to blackmail the sellers into going against their own terms or be left negative feedback. Every seller has a right to do business their own way. Unless you know ALL of the reasons behind why a seller has certain terms, "IMHO", it's not right to judge them.

I think this whole feedback thing is highly overrated - not enough to get stressed about

RB: I agree! Feedback is an "optional" feature. I don't think it should be made the main reason for any transaction.

I agree that this whole feedback thing is silly. I especially think that for a Seller to wait until the buyer has given theirs is also ridiculous. I figure that the Buyer always has the last and final word. It is also silly to wait because if soeone leaves you a negative, you can always write a response to it. Any seller that does not respond to a negative feedback is likely to have deserved it in my opinion. If they do answer it well, then I just shrug it off. What successful business hasn't had a customer blow their cool before?

Interesting discussion...

I ask buyers to refrain from posting feeback until the auction is completed to their satisfaction. A dangerous propostion, but I make it a point to do everything within my means to provide the buyer with a purchase or resolution to their satisfaction. It causes a little work for me, but it appears to be worth the effort.

I now have a positive feedback rating just short of 1600 with only 6 negative comments. It's my feeling that they are all unjustified, as I did everything that I could, short of providing the items to the buyers for free, to resolve the issues that were raised.

We have to take some time to remember that there are some goofy and unreasonable people in the world and there's not much we can do about this reality. They are able to survive on eBay as buyers, but will not make the cut as sellers. If you're an eBay seller with a good feedback rating, pat yourself on the back, as this feedback has proven you the cream of the crop.

There's no other retail forum or checks and balance in the world that compares to the eBay feeback system. The truth is, that if the Toys R Us or McDonalds of the world were to be held accountable to their customer feedback rating, they'd all be NARUed within a few days of opeation.

Just a little support and food for theough to all of you sellers out there!

jlb444,
I used to feel the same way about the nasty neg but.....its part of business.I heard someone say many moons ago, its your badge of honor and part of doing business.

I treat customers the best I can and leave positive comments as soon as I ship.I have been in retail for 25 years and can tell you that you will never please everyone.

We have to learn to let go of the the few bad experiences and remember that 99% are good ones.Do your best and it will show...1100 Positive.

Ps.
Havent posted in over a year.Looks like AW has grown.

Good Luck !
