We've discovered a new technical flaw on several auctions (approximately 40 I've identified so far) running on eBay at this minute. It makes it impossible for buyers to bid on your items.

NOTE TO MODERATOR: I am NOT advertising these items, I am using them for reference: a buyer is unable to bid regardless.

Here are a couple of item numbers:
487015681 and 487015627

In each case there are *2* 'bidding' bars showing up across the middle of the page. In each case a buyer is UNABLE to place a bid. (If you don't believe me, try it!) IN the case of one of the items above a bidder WAS able to get a bid in on one item early in the auction, but it is now impossible to bid this item higher, and has been impossible to bid for a couple of days. eBay technical support is aware of the problem but has only suggested that the auctions be removed and relisted.

I will be removing all 40 of these auctions later today, after cancelling any existing bids. This post is to make other eBAy sellers aware of a technical problem that may exist on their items as well.

thx Marie

Thanks - I will run through my auctions and see if there are any double bidding bars.

You're right! I tried to bid and get that dreaded "input error" that I've gotten lately on different occasions. For me, it's happened when trying to go to an auction from "my eBay" page. I hope they get it figured out for you and refund the listing fees.

Being the doubting Thomas I am I had to try. You speak the truth my feedback overloaded friend. Input Error is the only thing I seem to be able to bid on when I enter a bid.

That officially sucks.

Yep, InputError
Even tried a high dollar amount and still wouldn't work.
What is ebay saying now?

Actually it is possible to bid. I am now the high bidder for the Gene Watson CD you reference above (who's he?) - have a look.

Looks like this would be a great way to pick up some bargains.

Edited to add: Not trying to make light of the situation, the potential consequences are rather scary.

I successfully bid on something too---though I was outbid immediately by proxy

Might try again later---I have the LP--would love to have the CD

I looked at the view..source to see the html
code and there is something seriously wrong
with ebay's part of that code...two different auction numbers?

...perhaps if your feedback was higher eBay might do something for you......

Short of going and testing evry auction I have up, how do I know whether or not the page will accept a bid. I can't *see* anything wrong with Marie's auction. What am I missing?

If you look at the html source of your page from item #487015627 you will see that the hidden bidding form from a previous item of yours (Item #481136193) is there. That is an auction which has ended.

It might have something to do with how you list, or re-list, your auctions. Cut and paste from actual auction page? That could have dragged part of the html from the last auction.

Hope this helps.

thanks, Cimfra, that helps big time. We are working on the problem from here, seems like a problem in our cutting-and-pasting template stuff.

They're having more problems than that that they are not owning up to! My closing items have vanished for three weeks in a row!!! Ebay tried to tell me it was my CACHE! Guess it must be the ole' cache virus, because customers are writing wanting to know where my stuff went!
