I bought two thingies today at a yard sale..one was 15.00 and onne was 10.00. The big one with black background has hole drilled all over the velvet background so one may insert Xmas lights to make the rhinestones glitter. The other with the wine color background is just like it is...art. My question is, what should I list them for?? They are full of rhinestone pins, old earrings, pendants, etc, as art pieces and were glued on the surface. They are old...and all pronged. Although they are pieces, there may be some designer pieces in there (albeit broken on the backs, i.e. earrings with no posts, pendants with no hooks, etc), but I cant take them off to look on the back due to the glue and it would ruin the whole thing if I did. Should I start them at 9.99 and hope like hell they goes up? Or less and have a reserve with the reserve price in the description? (I do have closeups, but this will give you an idea of what both look like from afar)

I'd list them in one of the appropriate jewelry categories, with LOTS of closeups of the most interesting or possibly valuable pieces. Even if broken, they may be worth something to a collector. $9.99 sounds like a good starting point to me. How big are they? Are you going to have trouble packing and shipping? Think about adding extra $$ to the mailing cost. They are neat-looking...good luck!

Hiya folks! Thanks for the ideas. They are pretty big...the black background one is about 11X14 and the other is just a wee bit smaller. The lady that made them is an antique jewelry supplier to the local antique stores, and she did this as a hobby over the years with broken pieces. She said she made these two over 15 years ago. I figure I will start them at what I paid for them, but add an extra buck or two to cover the listing fees. Im thinking if the big black one doesnt go, I might keep it myself for the holidays! They wont be much to ship either, as they arent very heavy.

They are cool. What kind of frames are they? Wood, metal? They look nice might make a point of how nice the frames are. Are they shadow boxed? I can't tell. http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/[email protected]/

Hiya Kel! Boy, was I thinking of you today! There was this KILLER artglass vase, made by tiffany, and she only wanted 5 bucks for it (same gal I got the stuff above from), but I didnt get it for you, even though I did debate for a whole 5 minutes...because the whole delicate neck of the thing was busted off and glued back on (not very well either, I might add). But it sure was gorgeous from the neck down! I look for that kind of stuff for you now..so you can slap it on your website. Sure wish it wouldnt have been busted
Frames on the above item are wood, spray painted gold and silver. Not shadow boox...just a wee bit deeper than normal. She did a good job on them, thats for sure.

Those are wonderful! Who knows, it may start a whole new art trend. I'd list them as folk art or as in the previous post, Outsider Art. Great find! What a great project for a Christmas gift.
