I could have sworn a very short time ago a thread was running regarding the buyer protection system in place at PayPal. Someone asked paypaldamon if there was a minimum claim level (similar to ebay's deductible of $25) or if there was a maximum claim level (similar to ebay's $200 cap)

I was quite sure damon said there was no minimum or maximum levels to their coverage. Today I was looking at the "Policy Changes" link on PayPal and saw one titled, "Buyer Protection Policy Changes" The statement says:

"PayPal is revising its Buyer Protection Policy to focus on online auctions, and to eliminate redundant claim filings and investigations. For purchases made on eBay with PayPal on or after 11/10/00, buyers who qualify for eBay’s insurance policy (currently limited to $200) may recover up to an additional $200 of protection from PayPal. For all other purchases, buyers may continue to file buyer protection claims when they pay a Verified seller...."

This appears to me that their coverage plus ebay's would only cover a total of $400 ($200 for PayPal + $200 for ebay) minus ebay's $25 deductible. Is everyone reading this the same way I am?

If this is the case, what happened to PayPal's statment of "Fraud Protection Guaranteed"? Will it now read Fraud Protection Guaranteed buy only to $200 and only if ebay rules in your favor?

From the PayPal site, "If eBay’s dispute process is resolved in your favor, within 30 days of the judgment you must contact PayPal customer service in order to file a Claim against the seller."

Since there are dozens of posts here proving that PP's protection has always been a joke, what difference does it make what their limits are? We have seen the posts from dozens of would-be lawyers attempting to decipher the TOSOTM (TOS of the minute) before it changed. I heard that explaining the TOS is one of the exercises in the MENSA book. And what is says now might be different a minute from now. Welcome to Paypalland, where nothing means anything.
