Since feedback on half.com is from less than 20% of the buyers there, I am not concerned that a 3 rating from a buyer will affect me. However, it is frustrating that there is no way to respond.

This guy bought a book from me that was brand new, a bookstore remaindered item. The feedback he left for me stated something about mysterious mildew stains and an odor. NO *(&*($ WAY!! I am sure he has me mixed up with another seller.

Since so many here have posted here that half.com customer service is like talking to a brick wall, I will let it go. I just needed a place to vent.

You have my sympathies. The same thing has happened to me - it's very frustrating. Just let it go.

And maybe switch your books to Amazon.com <grin>

I've had people neg me on half because it took 7 days for the book to get to them, and it was mailed book rate which is what they paid for.

I'm fairly worried about that sort of negative reaction on Amazon because there is a built-in expectation of fast delivery from veteran Amazon buyers. But I guess everyone just has to read fine print. I sold 4 more books there yesterday, it's obviously going to be a "happening" site. Versus just 1 sale in the past few days on half.com

Hi Keziak ~ Since your books are selling so well at Amazon I was wondering how you were pricing them in comparison to how you priced on Half.com. Also are you selling Fiction or Non-fiction? TIA

I received a 3 from a buyer who wrote:

"Seller was supposed to ship Book Rate and send Special Standard Mail instead."

OK, since were venting let me add my 2cents worth.
I bought a video a while back and since I wanted it right away I paid to have it sent PRIORITY MAIL. I got it 10 days later at BOOKRATE.
Who do I go to for this RIPOFF?

I will NEVER again go to that sight and buy something.

I left in his feedback that I wanted a refund. NO RESPONSE from seller.

I've already kissed that deal goodbye.
He has my e-mail......I do not have his.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE???

Maybe I should do a "charge-back" since the only way you can pay is thru credit card.

Packer: Instead of leaving feedback, you should have clicked on the "report a problem" link that's on the same page. Half.com would then communicate to the seller that you had paid for priority (I presume you did) and want a refund.

Sellers on Half.com, by the way, DO NOT get their buyer's emails automatically, and are not supposed to communicate directly.

packer: I once bought a CD on Half.com and received a different CD. I did exactly what Glenda said and in a few days I had the correct CD in my hands. A week or so after that, Half.com credited the entire sale back to my credit card

decpage, your comment made me spill my coffee, I'm laughing so hard! About a month ago the clerks at my post office (who know me by name now) shared with me a memo from the regional distribution center near Philly. Someone there had photocopied the front of a package I had marked "Books" (and was obviously sending Book Rate). Well, the memo was a rant about how packages should ONLY be marked "Special Standard Mail"...that "Book Rate", "Book", "Bound Printed Matter" and all other such names were NOT valid. Doesn't matter that when their own machines register prices it's called "Book Rate". The clerks got a good laugh out of that one. Reminds me of that t-shirt: "Does anal retentive have a hyphen?"

nowwhat: it's been both fiction and non-fiction, both brand-new and "ex library". I price on Amazon higher than I have priced on half.com due to Amazon's 99 cents off the top.

OTOH, I had a hardcover SF novel sitting here. I could not find it listed on Amazon in HC and I'd had it listed on half.com for a few weeks. Before I could pick it up to take it back to the half.com shelf in my basement, I got a "sold" email from half!

I think it just goes to show that you never know where your buyer will show up. I still sell the majority of my stuff on ebay. But Amazon could be outstanding because they have so many people searching that site already.
