From my experience it is best at the post Thanksgiving but be careful the mail slows down during the Christmas rush and customers want their presents under the tree on Christmas Day.

Mine are already out there buying. In about 1/2 of my sales this weekend, the people mentioned they were buying them for holiday presents.
BTW, if you use priority stuff, order NOW so you'll have it in time. My post office is already running out of some of the more popular sizes & asking ME to order some for them.

Eventer- My post office wanted to know why I could get certain boxes and they couldn't... I found that a bit, odd. She ended up ordering them on-line in lieu of their normal ordering procedure.
My post office doesn't have access to many of the boxes I obtain through the online site - but I would imagine this is true of many small post offices. Perhaps in a larger city they would be available - I live in a town of 1600, so how many odd size boxes would a town this size need, except for on line sellers who should procure their boxes from the USPS on line.

I don't deal in toys, but many of my customers have said items they are procuring are for Christmas presents - some were saying that last month. I don't wait to post, I have all that I have up and running, not necessarily on eBay but running - I use Yahoo most of the time, after many years on eBay.
This is a post office branch in one of the biggest & most affluent areas of a major metropolitan city. Some can get the boxes, other's can't & according to the clerks, there's not a lot of rhyme or reason why it is this way.
I just make them VERY happy, order them for them & I NEVER have a hassle at the counter.
I recall last year, the hours of waiting in lines. This year, I'm going to have my boxes already here (the counter clerks adore me but the local carrier isn't too fond of me right now...a couple batches of homebaked cookies should get his nose back in joint). I'm also stocking up on priority & other denominations of stamps. I'll have most everything ready to go when I hit the post office.
My clerks have said I can just bring everything to the dock & they'll cancel it later for me.
BTW, I REALLY appreciate my clerks & let them know with little baked goodies & boxes of candy during the year. During the crunch times, my stuff goes through with NO hassles.
