Hi friends.... I understand that we are in for a postage increase, probably to go into effect on or about Jan. 7, 2001...
...I know how this affects first class and Priority rates, but does anyone know how this will effect (If at all) the "bookrate" or "special standard mail" rate we use to ship books? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The media mail rates are going up by an average 4.9% according to the rate case. USPS, however, has removed all of the links to the new rates, probably because some corrections have been ordered.

Chinaguys: Could you post the URL for the site where you got the information on the new postal rates? I'm sure that we'd all like to take a look at them. Thank You!

I got it from http://www.prc.gov and had to wade through a 800-page PDF file to find it. Follow the link in the larger window to the R2000-1 Decision and then choose R2000-1-V1.pdf. It took about quite a long time to load it all. (If you right click the link, you can save it to your hard drive and peruse later at your leisue.)
I imagine that the USPS will soon have the rates put up on their site in a more user-friendly format.

Chinaguys: Thanks for the information. I'll look it up. I e-mailed US Post Office and they said that the final approval hasn't been received and that the Post Offices and their site will have the information when they get the approval. Again, thank you for the early information so that I can plan for my business.
