I noticed someone who recently left me feedback is shown as userxxx (private). I clicked on the private and saw their ebay id card with the feedback totals. There are no comments, though. Just "User userxxx (private) has elected to make their Feedback Profile private so comments are not available for public viewing at this time."
Why did they choose this? Their rating is 103 with one negative and one bid retraction. It wasn't that way when they bid on my auction.

They have this free election and I think it doesn't affect you in anyway for example I have 2 IDs one is private and the other not, the private one has 139FB with only 1 neg, the public one has 89 and already have 4 negs. I sell stuff for teens, so they love to complaint and if I don't include a game as a bonus I get the chance of getting one more neg, for this reason 1 id is private and the other public, and I will keep it that way for a while, I just want to learn which is the best way.
Ebay says if you display your feedback you get more chances of getting more bids. But personally I don't think so, not a bit, and I already have proved. When I advertise with my other id the private one which has 139FB I get as much bids as the public one.
If I'm interested in an item and see that the seller has 138 positive feedback and 1 neg I definitely will bid on it. The curiosity is powerful.
